Holding the bottom team to a draw, Nam Dinh Club ran out of substitutes

Nam Dinh Club equalized 1-1 in the 89th minute to escape defeat against Da Nang Club in the debut match of new coach Nguyen Trung Kien in round 8 of V-League 2025-2026.

However, a series of important absences left coach Nguyen Trung Kien confused. The home team fielded a makeshift lineup. They even had to register two goalkeepers to have enough reserves.

On the bench, apart from the two goalkeepers, Nam Dinh FC had only 5 players. On the field, the patchwork positions and those who were not in the best physical condition played poorly against the opponents.

As a result, Da Nang FC pressed the field and opened the scoring in the 14th minute thanks to striker Nguyen Phi Hoang. His shot was off target but hit the ground and defeated Nguyen Manh.

With the goal, the team at the bottom of the V-League table tried to maintain a fragile distance. If they got 3 points, Da Nang Club would create an earthquake and escape the bottom group.

However, the home team equalized 1-1 in the 89th minute thanks to center-back Lucas Alves. The 1.9m tall player headed the ball easily when only being marked by 1.7m tall defender Nguyen Duy Thang.

The equalizer was not enough to lift the spirit of Nam Dinh players. Their tired, sluggish legs could not make any more successful shots.

Many Nam Dinh players like Ly Cong Hoang Anh, who came on as a substitute in the 61st minute, also suffered muscle strain and could not walk for the last minutes of the match. This also reflected the home team's situation.

This 1-1 draw left Nam Dinh Club with only 8 points after 8 rounds and in 8th place. Meanwhile, Da Nang Club has 6 points and is in 13th place, ahead of Hoang Anh Gia Lai in goal difference.
