President of the European Council appreciates Vietnam's anti-corruption efforts

According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, continuing activities within the framework of the expanded G7 Summit, on the afternoon of May 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with President of the European Council Charles Michel.

At the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive steps forward in the Vietnam - European Union (EU) relations towards increasing depth and substance. Affirming that the EU is a leading important partner in Vietnam's foreign policy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that both sides promote the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially at high levels; maintain and promote the effectiveness of cooperation and dialogue mechanisms within the framework of the Vietnam - EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Framework Agreement. The Prime Minister asked the President of the European Council to urge the Parliaments of member countries to soon ratify the EVIPA Investment Protection Agreement, creating a breakthrough in investment cooperation between the two sides; and asked the European Council to have a voice so that the EU can soon remove the IUU yellow card on Vietnam's seafood exports while continuing to support Vietnam in transforming its model of modern and sustainable fisheries development. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the EU and its member countries will continue to support Vietnam in attracting resources to implement the Just Energy Transition Agreement (JETP), with priority given to finance, technology, capacity building in the green transition process, renewable energy development and supporting industries.

Sharing with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, President of the European Council Charles Michel expressed his delight at the strong and extensive development of Vietnam - EU relations in many fields, especially high-level exchanges and contacts, economic - trade and investment cooperation. The President of the European Council highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts in preventing corruption. Regarding the "yellow card" issue for Vietnamese seafood, the President of the European Council acknowledged the progress that the two sides have made in handling this issue. President Charles Michel also affirmed that the EU strongly supports Vietnam in green transformation and the implementation of the Equal Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). President Charles Micheal hopes that Vietnam will continue to support the EU in strengthening relations with ASEAN.
