President To Lam presents appointment decisions to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security

On the afternoon of June 6, at the Presidential Palace, President To Lam chaired the ceremony to announce and present the President's decision to appoint Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term.

Also attending were members of the Politburo: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Standing Member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong; Secretary of the Central Committee and Head of the Central Organization Department Le Minh Hung; and General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense .

Also attending the ceremony were Party Central Committee Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai; Party Central Committee members: Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong... and representatives of leaders from central committees, ministries, and agencies.

Acting on behalf of the President, the Head of the Presidential Office, Le Khanh Hai, announced the President's decisions appointing Le Thanh Long as Deputy Prime Minister and General Luong Tam Quang as Minister of Public Security. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other Party and State leaders presented flowers and congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President To Lam extended congratulations to comrades Le Thanh Long and Luong Tam Quang; as well as the Government, the Prime Minister, the Central Party Committee of Public Security, the Ministry of Public Security; and the Party Committee of the Ministry of Justice.

The President affirmed that this is a great honor for the two newly appointed comrades, a shared joy for the Government, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Public Security; at the same time, it demonstrates the trust and concern of the Party, the State, and the people towards the Government, the Ministry of Justice, and the People's Public Security force; and acknowledges and highly appreciates the contributions and dedication of the two comrades in the fields of work they have been in charge of over the past years.

The President assessed Comrade Le Thanh Long as an outstanding cadre of the Party, State, and the Justice sector, having received basic training, held many leadership positions in the Justice sector, and undergone rigorous training and challenges at the local level. Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang is an outstanding cadre of the Party, State, and the People's Public Security force; his career is closely linked to the Public Security sector, to the work of protecting national security, ensuring social order and safety, and building the People's Public Security force; he has received basic training, undergone many challenges, and held many leadership positions in the People's Public Security force.

The President affirmed that the appointment of Comrade Le Thanh Long as Deputy Prime Minister and General Luong Tam Quang as Minister of Public Security reflects the great trust and expectations of the Party and the State in the two comrades.

In the context of the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland, which is facing fundamental advantages while also encountering many difficulties and challenges, the President requested Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang to continue to uphold revolutionary traditions, maintain moral qualities, be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, wholeheartedly and diligently serve the Fatherland and the people, always study and follow the thoughts, ethics, and style of President Ho Chi Minh; strive to be exemplary leaders, excellently fulfill all assigned tasks, and make positive contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new situation.

The President requested Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, together with the Government, to inherit and promote the valuable traditions and experiences of the Government throughout various periods; to implement synchronously, decisively, and effectively the tasks and powers of the Government in accordance with the Constitution and laws. This includes focusing on advising and leading the work of building and perfecting the socialist rule of law state of Vietnam, of the people, by the people, and for the people, led by the Communist Party of Vietnam; perfecting the legal system, upholding the supremacy of the Constitution; respecting, guaranteeing, and protecting human rights and civil rights; ensuring unified state power with clear division of labor, close coordination, and effective control; building a professional, rule-of-law, and modern administration and judiciary; and creating a streamlined, clean, and efficient state apparatus.

The President also requested General Luong Tam Quang, together with the Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Central Public Security Ministry, to inherit and promote the glorious traditions of the heroic Vietnamese People's Public Security force, leading the entire force to continue to be exemplary and at the forefront in successfully implementing the resolutions of the Party, first and foremost the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, and the resolutions, directives, and conclusions on protecting the Fatherland, protecting national security, and firmly safeguarding the achievements of the revolution and national interests. At the same time, they must protect the Party, the State, the people, the socialist regime, the reform process, and the national culture; prevent strategic passivity and surprises; contribute to maintaining and building peace; consolidate and expand Vietnam's living and development space; and create the highest possible conditions for socio-economic development and international integration. Focus on building a truly clean, strong, professional, elite, and modern People's Public Security force, capable of meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation.

The President expressed his belief that, with the tradition of solidarity and unity, with the support and assistance of ministries, branches, localities, the entire people and army, comrades Le Thanh Long and Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang will excellently fulfill their assigned responsibilities.

In his acceptance speech, on behalf of those appointed, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long expressed his gratitude to the Central Committee of the Party, the Politburo, the Secretariat, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the President, the Government, the Prime Minister, the National Assembly, and the Chairman of the National Assembly for their trust and confidence in nominating, approving, and appointing him as Deputy Prime Minister and Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang as Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long emphasized that this is a great honor, but also a very heavy responsibility before the Party, the State, and the people, especially in the context of the country's determination to successfully implement the key strategic breakthroughs set forth in the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, including the task of continuing to improve the legal system, enforce the law, and ensure national defense and security in the face of the country's rapid and sustainable development.

Responding to the President's directives, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long pledged to make every effort and strive to overcome difficulties to successfully complete the assigned tasks, contributing to building a strong, intelligent, disciplined, and orderly government, and making positive contributions to the socio-economic development, national defense, security, and international integration of the country. He also expressed his hope that during the performance of his duties, he would continue to receive the attention, leadership, and guidance of the leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations, central ministries and agencies, and local Party committees and authorities.
