National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man meets with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his pleasure at meeting Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko and other Belarusian parliamentarians on the occasion of attending the 45th AIPA General Assembly.

The Speaker of the National Assembly congratulated Belarus on successfully holding the parliamentary elections in February 2024 and on Mr. Igor Sergeyenko's election as Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus; expressing confidence that the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus will be successful in his new position and make a positive contribution to Vietnam-Belarus relations.

The Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized that Vietnam always values ​​the traditional friendship and cooperation with Belarus, which has been nurtured by the leaders and people of both countries for more than 30 years. Vietnam always considers Belarus a friend and reliable partner and wishes to strengthen cooperation with Belarus. The Vietnamese people always remember the great support and valuable assistance that Belarus has given to Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation as well as in the cause of national construction and development today.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus once again sent condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Belarusian Parliament agreed with the opinion of the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man, and stated that, based on a foundation of traditional and trustworthy relations, Belarus always attaches importance to developing cooperative relations with Vietnam in various fields.

On this occasion, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko respectfully conveyed the invitation from the President of Belarus to General Secretary and President To Lam to visit Belarus soon; and also respectfully invited Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man to visit Belarus.

Stating that the Belarusian Parliament delegation is attending the 45th AIPA General Assembly as an AIPA observer, Mr. Igor Sergeyenko expressed his hope that Vietnam will support the promotion of cooperation between Belarus and ASEAN.

Regarding strengthening parliamentary cooperation, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus expressed his desire for both sides to promote cooperation through the parliamentary friendship channel and suggested that this form of cooperation should be implemented soon through online exchanges.

At the meeting, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sincerely thanked the National Assembly of Belarus for sending a delegation led by the Vice Chairman of the Council of the Republic (Senate) to attend the State Funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong last July; and at the same time sympathized with the Party, State and people of Vietnam for the heavy losses caused by storm No. 3 (Yagi).

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his sincere gratitude for the invitation to visit Belarus from the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Belarusian Parliament and said he would arrange a visit to Belarus at a suitable time.

The Speaker of the National Assembly affirmed that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge to promote cooperation between Belarus and ASEAN.

Highly appreciating the establishment of a new Working Group on Cooperation with the Vietnamese National Assembly by the Belarusian House of Representatives, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed confidence that close coordination between the two groups would help promote the exchange of legislative experience and enhance mutual understanding of the operational mechanisms of each country's legislative body. He suggested that the two groups should soon hold exchanges, meetings, and develop specific work plans in the near future.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully invited Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko to pay an official visit to Vietnam, thereby further strengthening the friendly cooperative relations between the parliaments of the two countries.
