In the jubilant atmosphere of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, Vietnamese Ambassador to Pakistan Pham Anh Tuan had an exclusive interview with Pakistan in the World newspaper, sharing about Vietnam's remarkable achievements over the past 8 decades as well as prospects in bilateral relations between the two countries.

Looking back on the 80-year journey, Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan affirmed that from a backward agricultural country, Vietnam has risen to rank 32nd in the world in terms of economic scale, among the top 20 economies in terms of trade and foreign investment attraction. Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries around the world and signed 17 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with more than 60 key economies.

Regarding Vietnam-Pakistan relations, the Ambassador emphasized the encouraging progress in bilateral trade relations. Bilateral turnover in 2024 reached more than 850 million USD, up 20.5% over the previous year and is aiming for the target of 1 billion USD in 2025.

At the same time, the two sides agreed on a plan to negotiate a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) in 2025, creating favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to expand cooperation and promote strong investment, reaching the multi-billion USD target in the future as expected by the two Prime Ministers .

On the evening of August 28, the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) at the Marriott Hotel, Islamabad.

The event attracted the participation of more than 300 guests, including representatives of Pakistani ministries and branches, leaders of the National Assembly , diplomatic corps, business community, and a large number of Vietnamese expatriates living and working in Pakistan.

In particular, the ceremony was honored by the presence of Finance Minister Bilal Azhar Kiyani - the main guest of the event, along with the guests of honor: Mr. Shahid Ali Seehar, Director General of the East Asia & Pacific Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Senator Saleem Mandviwlla, Chief of Staff of the Senate; Mr. Ashfaq Khalil, Deputy Minister of Information and Broadcasting; Mr. Talha Burki, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister; along with many Ambassadors, Chargé d'Affaires, Embassy staff of the diplomatic corps and politicians, businessmen, press, and friends of Pakistan attending the Ceremony.

In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan recalled the momentous moment 80 years ago when President Ho Chi Minh read the historic Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, opening a new era for the Vietnamese people.

The Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam today has become a dynamic, developed country and a reliable partner of the international community, and shared its remarkable achievements after more than 40 years of Doi Moi - from economic and social breakthroughs to Vietnam's increasing role and prestige in the international arena.

In particular, the important milestones of more than 50 years of Vietnam-Pakistan relations with many outstanding achievements in the economic and cultural fields have created a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the bilateral relationship.

In his congratulatory speech, Pakistani Finance Minister Bilal Azhar Kiyani - Chief Guest of the ceremony - sent warm congratulations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, expressing admiration for Vietnam's development achievements.

Minister Bilal Azhar Kiyani emphasized that Vietnam is a shining example of resilience and development aspirations, and affirmed Pakistan's unwavering commitment to always support and wish to promote comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.

The highlight of the ceremony was the unique Ao Dai fashion show organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in collaboration with Pakistan's Niftysphere Academy of Arts.

On the brightly lit stage, the Embassy staff and students of the Academy performed in traditional Ao Dai, catwalking neatly, confidently and professionally to the melodious music and a video introducing Vietnam tourism, the atmosphere of the ceremony became vibrant and warm.

Pakistani audiences and international friends could not hide their excitement and expressed their deep impressions of the performance. Many guests said that this was the first time they had seen the graceful beauty of Vietnamese traditional costumes, and they felt the sophistication, elegance as well as the profound cultural significance that Ao Dai brings.

In addition to the art performance, the Embassy arranged a space to display and introduce the diverse Vietnamese culture. Dishes that have become Vietnamese trademarks such as fried spring rolls and pho, prepared by the ladies themselves, left an unforgettable impression on the guests.

In particular, booths promoting Vietnamese products with Kim Anh tea, G7 coffee, tra fish fillets and tourism promotion publications have attracted special attention from Pakistani and international friends, contributing to increasing export products and promoting the image of Vietnam.
