The news of the death of Tú Thanh, "Vietnam's youngest female traditional singer," on July 1st has saddened audiences and colleagues alike. Tú Thanh was involved in an accident while traveling with her older sister in Đồ Sơn, Hải Phòng . The serious accident resulted in Tú Thanh's untimely death, while her sister sustained serious injuries.
Tú Thanh's funeral took place at 8:30 AM in Do Son, Hai Phong. The memorial service was held at 3:30 PM on the same day, with many friends and fans attending to bid farewell to Tú Thanh. The cremation ceremony was held at 4:05 PM.
Accompanying singer Quoc Thien to bid farewell to Tu Thanh, young singer Chu Tuan Ngoc shared that he had known Tu Thanh since 2017 when they both competed in the "Kids' Familiar Faces" program. At that time, Chu Tuan Ngoc and Tu Thanh were on the same team coached by Quoc Thien.
Quoc Thien and Chu Tuan Ngoc came to see Tu Thanh off.
The first thing that impressed Chu Tuan Ngoc about Tu Thanh was that despite her young age, she could sing very difficult genres such as Xam, Quan Ho, and even sing in English.
“Tu Thanh is very polite and also very good at studying. In class, she is the class president. She is very diligent in her studies. Sometimes, even when she is sick, she still tries to memorize her lessons. After the competition, we didn't have many opportunities to meet. We only talked during the rare occasions we performed together. When we met again, I saw that Tu Thanh had changed and improved a lot in her singing. She knows how to adjust her technique better than before,” Chu Tuan Ngoc said.
Meanwhile, Quoc Thien commented that Tu Thanh is a talented, well-behaved, and cute girl.
Child actor A Pù (real name Lữ Triển Triều) once participated in the Little Heroes show alongside Tú Thanh. Impressed by Tú Thanh's talent, A Pù later developed a passion for and learned more about traditional Vietnamese musical instruments, pursuing the zither and lute. A Pù admits to being somewhat influenced by Tú Thanh's talent.
A Pù recounted that during their time participating in the program, she and Tú Thanh became very close, often helping and encouraging each other to get through the rounds. In particular, when Tú Thanh saw that A Pù liked a cute, colorful water bottle, she bought it for her. Even now, A Pù and Tú Thanh don't have many opportunities to talk because they live in different places. However, A Pù still cherishes and keeps that water bottle.
Tú Thanh passed away at the age of 14, leaving her friends and fans deeply saddened.
Born in 2009, Tu Thanh has studied vocal music, piano, organ, and the two-stringed fiddle (dan nhi) since childhood. With outstanding talent in various traditional art forms such as ca tru, cheo, xam, and chau van, she has been recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization as the youngest artist to perform traditional Vietnamese folk music.
The little girl has also appeared on many television programs such as "Little Talents," "Little Heroes," and "Kids' Familiar Faces"... In "Kids' Familiar Faces," Tu Thanh brilliantly transformed into the artist Ha Thi Cau. Hien Thuc even ran onto the stage to hug Tu Thanh after her outstanding performance.
