At the start of the competition, the Vietnamese swimming team had a relatively slow pace, with Nguyen Kha Nhi finishing in the top 7 in the 200m freestyle and Luong Jérémie Loïc Nino finishing in the top 5 in the 50m freestyle.
The Vietnamese swimming team began to show promise after "Frog Prince" Pham Thanh Bao won a gold medal in the 100m breaststroke. Following closely behind, young female swimmer Vo Thi My Tien finished third in the 200m individual medley with a time of 2 minutes 16.66 seconds. She put in a strong effort to compete against formidable opponents from Singapore (2 minutes 13.42 seconds) and Thailand (2 minutes 16.14 seconds).
Concluding the second day of competition, the Vietnamese swimming team won a gold medal in the men's 4x200m relay (7 minutes 16.67 seconds). The four athletes participating were Nguyen Viet Tuong, Nguyen Huy Hoang, Tran Van Nguyen Quoc, and Tran Hung Nguyen. Despite facing pressure from athletes from Singapore and Malaysia, the Vietnamese team surged ahead in the final minutes and finished first, thanks to the outstanding performances of Tran Van Nguyen Quoc and Tran Hung Nguyen.
