The head of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said he was deeply moved to witness the police force racing against time, down to the second and minute, in the landslide incident, successfully rescuing 7-year-old TT D (born in 2018), daughter of Mr. Tran The Vinh, from Tay Ho 2 residential area, Xuan Truong ward, Da Lat city, on the evening of November 19th.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province shared details about two dramatic rescue operations carried out by the police force.

Comrade Ho Van Muoi shared that rescuing the child from under the rubble was truly a miracle, demonstrating the extremely quick response and high determination of the police force in responding to natural disasters, floods, and rescuing people. The Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that as soon as he received the information, he immediately went to the scene, directly witnessed and directed the rescue work. Upon arriving and witnessing the very serious landslide, the Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee thought of the most heartbreaking situation. At that moment, child D had been completely buried under the earth, rocks, and brick walls. This location was a restroom next to the embankment that had just collapsed.

The faint cries for help emanating from the rubble were heartbreaking for the head of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, but they also sparked a glimmer of hope. The rescue efforts by the police force, primarily the Fire and Rescue Police of Lam Dong Province, faced immense difficulties due to the massive amount of earth and rocks burying the child. Furthermore, rainwater and mud seeping from the embankment increased the risk of landslides, directly threatening the lives of both the victim and the rescue team.

The moment the rescue team broke through the wall and reached the victim's head.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province instructed that every effort must be made to get the child out of the scene as soon as possible, and to fight to save the victim's life.

Despite the danger, the police force used specialized equipment to break through the remaining wall, creating a hole at the head of the victim so that he could breathe. When this plan was completed, the victim's head was exposed, but it was impossible to pull him out because a large amount of earth and rocks had crushed the child. "At that moment, I saw the spark of life revived in the child. I believe the police will save him!...", the Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province shared emotionally.

Faced with an extremely urgent situation, many police officers rushed in, using their bare hands to dig, scoop, and push out handfuls of soil and concrete, racing against time to rescue the child. An excavator was also deployed to the scene to remove the massive layer of earth and rocks that was burying the victim. “The rescue was incredibly fast, measured in minutes and seconds, very tense… Fast but also extremely skillful to ensure the child's safety while buried under the earth and rocks!… In the end, the rescue was a resounding success. The child's life was a miracle, a rebirth by the police force amidst disaster and hardship!”, Comrade Ho Van Muoi shared.

The second incident that the Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee cannot forget is the rescue operation at the Kay An irrigation reservoir in Ta Nang commune. On the evening of November 7th, upon receiving news that the 1.7 million cubic meter reservoir was at risk of dam failure, Chairman Ho Van Muoi of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders of relevant agencies and units, rushed to the scene that night. Upon arrival, Mr. Muoi witnessed firsthand the rapidly worsening cracks in the dam body. Water was gushing out from the cracks, posing a very high risk of dam failure. “Downstream, the lives of hundreds of people are at stake. A dam failure would certainly cause a tragedy, and the damage would be enormous!” the Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee shared.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee arrived at the scene to direct the response to the incident at Kay An Lake that night.

That very night, under the direct command of the Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, over 100 households were evacuated to safety. Police, militia, and local authorities worked through the night reinforcing the dam, pumping, and releasing water to lower the water level amidst torrential rain. Many police officers, soaked and shivering, bravely went to the front lines to respond to the dangerous natural disaster.

In the following days, dozens of officers from the Mobile Police Unit of the Lam Dong Provincial Police Department remained at the scene, digging earth, building dams, and reinforcing areas affected by landslides and cracks.

“Thanks to the decisive and timely intervention of the authorities, including the police force, Kay An Lake has been reinforced and is strong enough to withstand the prolonged heavy rains in the province in the following days!…,” Comrade Ho Van Muoi shared.
