On the afternoon of October 24th, at Hung Thinh Phat Cooperative (Cho Gao district), the Department of Industry and Trade of Tien Giang province, in coordination with Fado iExport Joint Stock Company, held a ceremony to launch the first shipment of fresh Tien Giang coconuts for export to China.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Pham Van Trong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Giang province, emphasized that the departure ceremony of the first truck transporting fresh coconuts from Tien Giang for export to China is a significant event.
This not only marks a new step forward in the agricultural sector but also contributes to enhancing the value of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international market.
“The official export of fresh coconuts to China is the result of a long negotiation process between specialized agencies of Vietnam and China. This is a testament to the persistent cooperation of coconut growers and coconut export businesses in Vietnam in general, and those in Tien Giang in particular,” Mr. Trong said.
Tien Giang province has a large coconut growing area in the Mekong Delta region, with over 21,650 hectares, and this area is constantly expanding. In recent years, the province has implemented many preferential mechanisms and innovative approaches to promote coconut cultivation and processing within the province.
In the coming years, the province will continue to provide policy support to replicate successful and effective models to promote the local coconut industry, helping farmers increase their income.
To date, Vietnam has officially exported several agricultural products to the Chinese market, including: durian, bird's nest, sweet potato, dragon fruit, longan, rambutan, mango, jackfruit, watermelon, banana, black jelly, mangosteen, lychee, passion fruit, and coconut.
