On June 25th, the police in Binh Hung Hoa A ward (Binh Tan district, Ho Chi Minh City) received a report from a resident about a phone snatching incident in the area. The entire incident was recorded by security cameras.
The girl fell off her motorbike after her phone was snatched.
Speaking to reporters, Ms. NTH (40 years old, residing in Binh Tan District) said that at over 8 PM on June 17th, she rode her motorbike with her niece, T. (20 years old), to a convenience store on Go Xoai Street, Binh Hung Hoa A Ward, Binh Tan District to buy groceries.
While T stopped her car on the street in front of the convenience store, two thieves on a motorbike approached her, snatched the phone from her hand.
Startled by the sudden jerk, Ms. T. fell off her motorbike and hit her head on the road. Hearing the commotion, the convenience store's dog panicked and randomly bit Ms. T., while the thief sped away on his motorbike.
When she fell off the motorbike, Ms. T. was also bitten on the shoulder by the dog that lunged at her.
Meanwhile, residents in the area where the phone snatching occurred said that when they heard the victim's cries for help, they ran out to chase after the thief, but the robber sprayed pepper spray, causing many people to experience eye irritation and making it impossible to pursue him.
The owner of the convenience store also provided some money for Ms. T. to get vaccinations and take medication after she was accidentally bitten by the dog.
The area where Ms. T. and her relatives stopped to buy things and had her phone snatched.
The victim and their family reported the incident to the police, stating that the stolen phone had been purchased for over 5 million VND. The police have also extracted CCTV footage to investigate and clarify the phone snatching case.
