Berklee is known for having many students and alumni who have won major awards, especially with its four EGOT awards: 49 Emmy Awards, over 300 Grammy Awards, 8 Oscar Awards, and 28 Tony Awards.
For many years, Berklee has had students from Vietnam studying there. Artist Tran Manh Tuan was the first Vietnamese student to receive a scholarship to study there (1996), followed by musician Duc Tri (2000). Both became prominent figures in the fields of music composition, production, and performance , pioneering and leading many musical genres in Vietnam. Several other artists have also participated in short-term courses at Berklee, such as Thu Minh, Doan Trang, and Lam Truong…

With the music industry currently booming in Vietnam, Berklee is opening its doors even wider to Vietnamese students. This is the second year the school has sent representatives to Ho Chi Minh City to conduct direct admissions interviews and award scholarships.
According to Daniel Abussi, Deputy Director of Admissions at Berklee College of Music, opportunities to become a Berklee student are open to everyone, with a wide range of courses, from short summer courses and online courses to full-time university programs. Berklee offers students the chance to expand their creative space. They learn how to incorporate folk music elements into modern music, making traditional music global. This is something Vietnamese students are doing very well, pioneered by artist Tran Manh Tuan.

Previously, Vietnamese students wishing to participate in scholarship recruitment and interviews often had to travel to neighboring countries such as Singapore and China. Now, young people can do so right here in Vietnam, with a four-day recruitment event at Sax 'n Art Club – the Jazz Club of artist Tran Manh Tuan in An Khanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
Each year, Berklee allocates $110 million for scholarships of varying amounts, depending on region, country, and student ability. Scholarships can range from an average of $20,000 to $45,000. Students wishing to apply for the January 2026 college entrance exam should register in advance at: www.berklee.edu/apply.
