After many years of persistently pursuing his passion, Tran Thanh Luc has initially achieved success in the world -class playground. In his first time participating in the 3-cushion World Championship, the most prestigious tournament in the system of the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB), Thanh Luc excellently won the silver medal.
Tran Thanh Luc, the current world runner-up, wants to make further breakthroughs in his career.
On his way to the world runner-up position, Tran Thanh Luc impressed with convincing victories against veteran 3-cushion carom billiards players such as Marco Zanetti (former world No. 1) and especially Dick Jaspers (Netherlands, current world No. 1). The performance at the 2024 World Championship is also a clear demonstration of the great professional progress, especially in the psychological aspect of the 1990-born player. However, Thanh Luc still needs to improve to maintain high stability in terms of competitive spirit. "In addition, I also have to try harder physically to be in the best condition when competing at high intensity," Thanh Luc shared.
The silver medal at the world tournament held in Binh Thuan helped Thanh Luc move up 6 places on the rankings, from 20th to 14th in the world. But this position is not the final destination because Thanh Luc still wants to fly higher. The rising star of Vietnamese billiards affirmed his high determination: "At the present time, I set a goal to be in the top 10 in the world. And when I am among the 10 best players in the world, I will set an even higher goal."
The door to the top 10 is wide open for Thanh Luc. If he can maintain his high performance in the upcoming UMB tournaments, the Vietnamese player can completely break through the rankings. When he fulfills the first dream of his career, Thanh Luc will receive many special things, including a wild card to attend the final round of the World Cup.
