Trump's daughter-in-law will host a Fox News program, an unprecedented event.

Fox News has just signed an agreement with Lara Trump, former co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and daughter-in-law of US President Donald Trump, to host a program on the channel.

The new program, titled "My View with Lara Trump," will premiere on February 22nd and air every Saturday at 9 PM (EST).

This is the first time a family member of a sitting US President has worked for a television station.

Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News' communications division, said that Lara Trump is "a talented communicator."

"(She) knows how to connect with audiences, is a successful businesswoman and a working mother, and Lara's innate understanding of the American public and today's political landscape will be a fascinating addition to our weekend program," according to Scott.

"I am thrilled to be able to bring my voice back to Fox News, to speak directly with the American people and to highlight what makes this country so great," said Lara Trump.

This 43-year-old woman is the wife of Eric Trump and previously worked with Fox News from 2021-2022.

According to AFP, her hiring as the host is evidence of the close relationship between President Donald Trump and the television channel he has favored for many years.

He recruited from Fox News to bolster his presidential cabinet, selecting morning news anchor Pete Hegseth as defense secretary and Fox Business Network host Sean Duffy as transportation secretary.

Several members of Trump's first term (2017-2021), including press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, now work for Fox.

The president's relatives have held positions in media outlets, but never has a close family member hosted a television news program.

Jenna Bush Hager joined NBC News as a contributing reporter in 2009, but that was a few months after her father, former President George W. Bush, left office.

Former President Bill Clinton's daughter, Chelsea, worked at NBC News from 2011 to 2014, many years after her father became president.
