Despite being an international exhibition aimed at connecting businesses and promoting markets, the appeal of Chinese toy brands has turned the exhibition into a "check-in" spot, a landing point for Baby Three and Labubu.
The Vietnam International Baby Products and Toys Exhibition (IBTE 2024) covered an exhibition area of over 10,000m², bringing together more than 200 brands from Vietnam, China, Indonesia, India, and many other countries and regions. December 20th marked the final day of the Vietnam International Baby Products and Toys Exhibition (IBTE 2024) and the Vietnam International Gifts & Household Goods Exhibition (IGHE 2024) currently taking place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), but the atmosphere remained incredibly lively, with a large influx of visitors.
Although it's an exhibition for businesses and manufacturers, the presence of many famous domestic and international toy brands such as Latoys, Yodee, Top Toy, Baby Three, Suamoon, Top City, Sising, Barbie Elaphant, Home Baby, FZ Toys, Card Fun, Moyu Block, etc., attracted a large number of young people and consumers who came to "hunt" for toys.
The owner of the Upsetduck booth said that the sad-faced duck toys are not yet available in Vietnam and they are looking for an official distributor. However, as soon as they were displayed at the exhibition, many people came to inquire about buying them.
Similarly, the high demand and overwhelming number of inquiries from customers led many stalls from China to put up signs saying "not for sale" in front of their counters.
In particular, the Baby Three booth was always crowded, with many expressing regret that most of the products were not for sale, but rather for display and as samples to present to partners.
Tung Anh, a young person who came to "hunt for bargains" at the exhibition, said that she had been watching this exhibition for many days and most of her group of friends came here, spending millions of dong on items to buy plush toys like Labubu or Baby Three, all of which are "unique" and not cheap.
Mr. Zhang, a Chinese businessman, said that most of the blind box models he brought to the exhibition are not yet sold in Vietnam. Many of these models will officially go on sale from the beginning of 2025, so these are sample products he wants to introduce to his Vietnamese partners.
"Although I only wanted to find distributors, there were too many people asking to buy sample items," Mr. Zhang said.
One toy brand also announced it is looking for an official distributor in Vietnam, after seeing the high volume of online purchases.
Among them, the booth featuring the Baby Three doll, a Christmas edition making its debut in the Vietnamese market, attracted many people to "check-in".
Toys from China, using blind box modeling techniques, are currently taking Vietnamese social media by storm, and these stalls are attracting the most visitors and longing to stop by.
The Chinese toy market is making a comeback in Vietnam after the hype surrounding Labubu, Baby Three, and other popular blind box trends.
In the near future, it is expected that more stuffed animals with different character designs will "flood" the Vietnamese market.
Mr. Hou Huaizhi, Deputy General Manager of ChaoYu and representative of the organizing committee, said that Vietnam has become an attractive destination for Chinese investors and businesses, especially in fields such as children's toys, gifts, and household goods.
Many manufacturers, distributors, and businesses in the industry are introducing new products, exchanging technology, expanding markets, and establishing effective business connections in Vietnam.
The craze for Chinese teddy bears and dolls online has "swept" down to the international toy exhibition.
Through the exhibition, businesses gain a multifaceted view of market development trends, helping to expand business opportunities and optimize their networking.
A new toy model was showcased by the manufacturer at the exhibition.
Many Chinese toys, priced at millions of dong, were still highly sought after at the exhibition.
Consumers' curiosity about novel toys is creating new trends in the market.
