Vietnam Trade Union: Donating 2,500 train and plane tickets to bring workers home to celebrate Tet Binh Ngo 2026

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has just announced a large-scale vehicle support program, giving plane tickets, train tickets and Tet 2026 gifts to union members and workers working in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Tay Ninh, helping them reunite after many years of not being able to return home.

500 plane tickets for workers

Implementing Plan No. 34/KH-TLĐ dated October 15, 2025, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issued a plan to support transportation for union members and workers to return to their hometowns to celebrate the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo 2026 and return to work after the holiday. The program aims to reduce the burden of travel expenses for workers far from home, especially in the context of high Tet ticket prices.

The beneficiaries of the support are union members and employees working under contracts at enterprises that paid union fees before October 31, 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, and whose hometowns are from Da Nang to the North. Those in difficult circumstances, low income; those who have had work accidents, occupational diseases, serious illnesses; those whose working hours have been reduced, who have lost their jobs, or who have unpaid wages; ethnic minorities, relatives of people with merit or living in areas affected by natural disasters, etc. are given priority for selection. In addition, union members with outstanding achievements in the 2020-2025 period, who have received certificates of merit and awards from unions at all levels, are also in the support group.

Notably, the program gives priority to union members who have not been able to return home for 3 years or more for those who register for the “Union Flight - Spring 2026”. This is a humane criterion, aiming to help those who have missed their family reunions for many Tet seasons to have the opportunity to return.

According to the plan, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will allocate 500 one-way air tickets and 500 gifts worth 300,000 VND each to the Labor Federations of Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh. Labor Federations of provinces and cities are responsible for making a list according to standards, estimating the budget and submitting it to the Standing Committee of the Presidium for approval before implementation.

The flights are expected to take place from February 12-16, 2026 (December 25-29, At Ty year), departing from Tan Son Nhat airport to 3 destinations: Noi Bai, Vinh and Phu Bai. Each member will be accompanied by a relative.

Before the flights, leaders of the General Confederation of Labor and local unions will directly meet and wish the members a Happy New Year before the planes take off.

Giving away 2,000 round-trip train tickets

In parallel with supporting air tickets, the program "Union Train - Spring 2026" is also continued to be implemented by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor with a highlight of 2,000 round-trip train tickets and 2,000 gifts worth 300,000 VND/gift.

Tickets are allocated to the Labor Federations of Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Vietnam Railways. Each union member can bring up to three relatives, suitable for family reunions during Tet.

The South-North route will take place from February 10-16, 2026 (December 23-29, year of the Snake), departing from Saigon Station, Di An Station and Bien Hoa Station. The return route will start from February 20 to March 1, 2026 (January 4-13, year of the Horse), at stations from Da Nang to Hanoi.

The program also prioritizes union members who have not been able to return home for two consecutive years. The organization of the train farewell will be coordinated by unions at all levels with the railway industry, creating a warm atmosphere and encouraging the spirit before the long journey of workers.

Funding for both programs comes from the General Confederation of Labor’s financial resources and socialized sources, including support from partners who have signed cooperation agreements. Mobilizing diverse resources helps this year’s program continue to maintain its large scale, providing substantial support to thousands of workers.

According to the leader of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, with a total of 500 plane tickets, 2,000 train tickets and 2,500 gifts, the 2026 Tet care activity is expected to bring an exciting atmosphere to the southern industrial zones. Many union members shared that this could be the first Tet in many years that they can return to their families, thanks to the support of the union. The program contributes to spreading the spirit of humanity, while also creating motivation for workers to work with peace of mind, stick with the business and return to work on schedule after the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday.
