The Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park Management Board (SHTP Management Board) announced that, within the framework of the Vietnam-Netherlands High-Tech Business Forum held on November 2nd in Hanoi , the SHTP Management Board awarded an Investment Certificate for the "Besi Vietnam Co., Ltd. Manufacturing Plant" project to BE Semiconductor Industries NV of the Netherlands (Besi Company) in the field of semiconductor microchips. The total initial investment for this project is over 115 billion VND (equivalent to 4.9 million USD), with an operating period of 50 years.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Anh Thi, Head of the Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that attracting BESI Company in the field of semiconductor microchips will bring positive contributions to the economic and social development of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular; especially creating high-level job opportunities for workers as well as training a team of technicians in the field of semiconductor microchips.
"With this project, Vietnamese workers will also participate in management and technical training courses both domestically and internationally related to the services the project provides, thereby having the opportunity to acquire and absorb technology in the field of semiconductor microchips while working on the project," Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi further shared.
Besi Company has decided to lease a pre-built factory from Lap Thanh Factory Investment Co., Ltd. with an area of 2,000m² at SHTP. The investor is expected to install machinery and equipment and recruit workers from now until the end of 2024, and the project will become operational in the first quarter of 2025.
Besi Company is headquartered in Duiven, Netherlands, with operations including the development, manufacturing, sales, and service of semiconductor manufacturing equipment for the global semiconductor and electronics industries.
