Speaking to VietNamNet, Mr. Le Quang Tu Do stated that organizations and individuals who exploit social media and cyberspace to spread fake news and misinformation aimed at damaging the honor and reputation of other organizations and individuals are violating the law.

“Personally, I support Vingroup's decision to file a lawsuit. I hope that not only Vingroup but also other organizations and individuals should increasingly utilize the legal channel, bringing cases to court to protect their legitimate rights, honor, and reputation. Because that is a way of behaving that is both in accordance with regulations and in line with the civilized trends of the times,” Mr. Tu Do expressed.

The Director of the Department of Broadcasting, Television and Electronic Information also stated that they had received a request from Vingroup when the group filed lawsuits against 68 organizations and individuals.

"The state management agency will review the matter based on current regulations to clarify the content related to the false information mentioned by Vingroup."

At the same time, we are also working with cross-border platforms such as Meta, YouTube, TikTok... to handle illegal content," Director Le Quang Tu Do informed.

On September 10th, Vingroup announced that less than 24 hours after initiating legal action against 68 organizations and individuals both domestically and internationally for spreading false information, more than 50 social media channels/pages had proactively removed fabricated and distorted clips and content.
These channels/pages belong to many social networking platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, YouTube... Some of them are on the list of 68 subjects sued by Vingroup.

Among the more than 50 account holders, some proactively posted apologies and corrections publicly on their personal pages; others sent letters of apology to Vingroup and relevant authorities. Notably, the BLV Đoàn Chình BDS channel publicly posted an apology and correction.

People need to improve their resistance to fake news.

Sharing further insights on this issue, Associate Professor Bui Hoai Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education , stated that the problem is not only relevant to Vingroup but also to society as a whole, as we are increasingly entering the digital age.

Therefore, to address the root cause, a holistic approach is needed, encompassing both strong legal tools and social, educational, and technological solutions.

“The Law on Cyber Security, the latest revised Penal Code and related documents have provisions, but they need to be implemented with a more drastic spirit, linked to the responsibility of competent authorities in detecting, preventing and handling quickly.

At the same time, international cooperation in handling fake news is also very necessary, because social networks are cross-border spaces," Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son said.

For businesses, he suggested proactively building rapid response mechanisms, providing transparent and timely information, and being ready to use legal tools to protect their reputation.

A business that dares to stand up against fake news not only protects itself but also contributes to building overall trust in the national business environment.

For the people, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son emphasized verifying information, not rushing to share things of unknown origin, and most importantly, being aware that every statement and action online is associated with civic responsibility.

“When netizens know how to respect the truth and stop for a second to verify before clicking the share button, they themselves have contributed to stopping the flow of fake news - Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son informed.
