Former HSBC Vietnam boss appointed as OCB general director

Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( OCB , stock code: OCB) has just announced the decision of the Board of Directors on the appointment of senior personnel. Accordingly, Mr. Pham Hong Hai officially holds the position of General Director of OCB from July 16.

According to OCB's introduction, Mr. Pham Hong Hai (born in 1974, from Hai Phong ) has nearly 30 years of experience in the banking and finance sector.

Mr. Hai was appointed as CEO of HSBC Vietnam from December 2014 to September 2019, becoming the first Vietnamese to hold the top leadership position of an international bank in Vietnam. During his nearly 5-year tenure, Mr. Hai led the organization to many important results with strong growth in scale and profit.

After the above appointment decision, OCB's executive board currently has 12 members, including a general director, 4 deputy general directors, and 7 block directors.

Earlier in May, OCB's Board of Directors approved Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tung's resignation from the position of General Director. In the coming time, Mr. Tung will continue to accompany the bank in the role of a member of the Board of Directors, focusing on building and implementing a sustainable development strategy and a large network of partners.

On the same day (July 15), Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank ( VPBank , stock code: VPB) announced the decision to appoint Mr. Kamijo Hiroki as Deputy General Director. The appointment decision takes effect from July 27.

The bank has not provided further details about Mr. Kamijo Hiroki. Currently, VPBank's executive board will have a total of 1 general director, Mr. Nguyen Duc Vinh, and 8 deputy general directors.
