Da Nang invests nearly 10,000 billion VND to develop inland waterway tourism

DNVN - Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh signed document 2334/QD-UBND approving the investment policy of the project to build and operate inland waterway tourism with a total investment of nearly 10,000 billion VND.

The scale of the project includes investment in new construction, renovation, upgrading and expansion of 20 inland waterway wharves with ancillary works serving the wharves' operations with a total land area of ​​about 15.3 hectares. In addition, investment in construction of parks behind 11 wharves with a total planned land area of ​​25.2 hectares ensures compliance with the approved general planning, zoning planning and specialized urban transport planning.

Along with that, organize lighting effects and art shows to attract visitors to waterway tourism. Purchase a fleet of ships with a capacity of 300-500 passengers/ship to serve inland waterway tourism, using clean fuel, green energy, and the best environmentally friendly in the world .

The total investment capital of the project is expected to be nearly 9,900 billion VND (including compensation and site clearance costs); of which the investor's capital contribution is nearly 1,500 billion VND, mobilized capital is nearly 8,400 billion VND. The project's operating period is 50 years. The project implementation location is along the Han, Co Co, Vinh Dien, and Cam Le rivers.

The project will be implemented from 2025 to 2031, divided into 2 phases with 3 component projects. Phase 1 from 2025 to 2030 has 1 component project to invest in the construction of 7 inland waterway wharves along the Han River from Thuan Phuoc Bridge to Tien Son Bridge. Phase 2 from 2028 to 2031 has 2 component projects to invest in the construction of 9 inland waterway wharves along Vinh Dien River, Co Co River and invest in 4 inland waterway wharves along Cam Le River.

According to Decision 2334/QD-UBND, in addition to the main goal of serving inland waterway tourism, the system of ports and inland waterway wharves is also a place to pick up and drop off passengers, moor boats... to serve public transport by waterway, reduce pressure on road traffic, and diversify passenger transport methods.

The selection of investors to implement the project is in accordance with the provisions of Clause 4, Article 12 of Resolution 136/2024/QH15 dated June 26, 2024 of the National Assembly on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang City. Investors are not allowed to implement the tourist route starting from Inland Water Port Y5, Y6 running along the Han River - Hon Chao - returning to the starting point.
