Da Nang seeks to expand development space and international integration

AVSE Global Chairman Nguyen Duc Khuong recommended that Da Nang focus on the fields of financial services, technology, logistics, sea and island tourism and high-end resorts, associated with the development of high-quality ecological, cultural and agricultural tourism.

On October 25, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Pham Duc An chaired a working session with the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts Global (AVSE Global).

At the meeting, AVSE Global representative presented the strategy to differentiate Da Nang, integrating planning, key projects and national programs.

The city leaders also proposed to exchange and cooperate with AVSE Global on consulting on development strategies and creating a unique identity for the Vietnam Financial Center in Da Nang City (VIFC-DN); recommendations on approaches and models for managing digital assets and digital currencies (according to separate licenses granted to trading floors in the financial center, applying the sandbox mechanism); connecting experts, overseas Vietnamese in the field of international finance, and successful startups to learn about the working and business environment in Da Nang City in general and the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang City in particular; coordinating the implementation of R&D Forum and Hack4Growth programs in Da Nang City; promoting the potential and orientation of VIFC-DN in AVSE's international events.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Pham Duc An emphasized that Da Nang is oriented by the Central Government to develop into an innovation center of the Central region and the whole country. The city aims to effectively exploit the potential of the Western region, develop tourism associated with medicinal herbs, and at the same time call for large investors to participate in the fields of seaports, logistics and high-tech industry.

Regarding transport infrastructure, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City said that Da Nang currently has two international airports, of which Da Nang International Airport is operating effectively with a rapidly increasing number of passengers, aiming to reach the target of 20 million passengers/year. In the coming time, the city will coordinate to develop Chu Lai Airport to 4F standards, aiming to exploit both passengers and goods, forming a large-scale logistics center. Da Nang is also deploying an urban railway system, developing modern transportation, promoting socio-economic growth associated with the orientation of green, clean and sustainable development.

Regarding the orientation of an international financial center, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City said that in mid-November, the Government plans to issue about 7 important Decrees, opening up opportunities for Da Nang to accelerate the process of forming a financial center, attracting domestic and foreign talents.

In addition, the city focuses on developing comprehensive social infrastructure, improving the quality of education, healthcare, tourism and health care services, creating an attractive living environment for international experts. According to AVSE Global's assessment, Da Nang has many outstanding advantages to become the economic - financial - technological center of the region.

The city also possesses a high level of global competitiveness, being in the Top 60/100 best cities in the Asia-Pacific region (2025) and the Top 100 best airports in the world. With a clean living environment, beautiful beaches, friendly people, Da Nang continues to affirm its position as a "livable city" in Vietnam.

At the meeting, AVSE Global proposed a model for developing Da Nang's urban space, including 3 main areas: the core urban area focusing on service, financial, startup and high-tech activities; the new urban belt including Lien Chieu, Hoa Xuan, and South Da Nang, connecting with the Quang Nam coast; a wide connection area in the inland area of ​​Quang Nam developing green agriculture, forestry and tourism, connected by modern transport infrastructure.

In the field of infrastructure and transportation, Da Nang aims to develop seaports into international logistics centers, expand Da Nang International Airport into an aviation center for the central coastal region, invest in coastal highways, urban railways and smart cities. The city aims to develop synchronous technical infrastructure, digital infrastructure, connecting satellite urban areas and industrial parks.

Regarding the orientation of socio-economic development, AVSE Global Chairman Nguyen Duc Khuong recommended that Da Nang focus on the fields of financial services, technology, logistics, sea-island tourism and high-end resorts, associated with the development of eco-tourism, culture, and high-quality agriculture. The city needs to plan a network of universities, research institutes, startup and innovation centers concentrated in the core urban area.

In the environmental field, the Chairman of AVSE Global proposed that Da Nang orientate the development of green, ecological urban areas, adapt to climate change, harmoniously combine sea - river - mountain, focus on natural disaster risk management, develop renewable energy, circular economy, reduce carbon emissions, towards open and sustainable urban areas.

These orientations and proposals are expected to help Da Nang promote its advantages, improve its competitiveness and gradually become a leading economic, financial, technological and tourism center in the region in the future.
