VnExpressVnExpress06/02/2024

In 2024, Hanoi University of Pharmacy plans to recruit 940 students through four methods, and will discontinue enrollment in its high-quality program.

Hanoi University of Pharmacy announced on February 5th that it will continue to recruit students for four majors: Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Chemistry, and Biotechnology, with a total enrollment of 940, a decrease of 20 compared to last year due to the discontinuation of the high-quality program.

The school maintains four stable admission methods: direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (method 1); admission based on a combination of high school transcripts and SAT/ACT certificates (method 2A) or academic results for specialized students (method 2B); admission based on the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's aptitude test scores (method 3) and high school graduation exam scores (method 4).

For admissions based on a combination of high school transcripts and international standardized tests, candidates need an SAT score of 1350/1600 or an ACT score of 30/36 for Pharmacy; a minimum SAT score of 1300 and an ACT score of 27 for other majors. Additionally, candidates must have excellent academic performance for three years, with a minimum GPA of 8 in each subject of the chosen subject combination in grades 10, 11, and 12.

The admission score is the sum of the achieved score plus the converted priority points. Specifically:

Total score achieved = SAT score * 90 / 1600 (or ACT score * 90 / 36) + (Subject 1 + Subject 2 + Subject 3) / 3.

Priority points conversion = [(30 - Total points achieved/100*30)/7.5*Priority points]/30*100.

For students from specialized or gifted high schools, the admission requirements include excellent academic performance for three years in specialized classes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; and a minimum score of 8 in each subject within the chosen combination for each year. The admission score for this group is the sum of the average score for each subject plus converted priority points and bonus points.

In the admission method based on the results of the aptitude test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi University of Pharmacy only applies it to the Pharmacy major. The necessary condition is that students must achieve above 7 points in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry over three years of high school. This condition also applies to the admission method based on high school graduation exam results for the Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry majors.

For all admission methods, the school will announce the minimum quality assurance threshold related to the high school graduation exam scores later.

Hanoi University of Pharmacy awards bonus points to candidates applying through methods 2B, 3, and 4 if they have an IELTS certificate with a score of 5.5 or higher (adding 0.25 to 2 points) or have won a prize in the provincial-level excellent student competition for 12th graders in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology; or a national-level honorable mention (adding 0.25 to 1 point).
