In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, Head of the Congress Organizing Committee Ngo Van Hung emphasized: The first Quoc Oai Commune Sports Congress took place in a vibrant competitive atmosphere to welcome the 18th Congress of Hanoi City Party Committee and towards the 11th City Sports Congress in 2025. This is a political - cultural - sports event of special importance, affirming the attention of the Party Committee and the government to physical education and building comprehensively developed people.
Since the two-level government officially came into operation (July 1), the commune's sports movement has developed strongly and spread widely among the people. Within the framework of the Congress, Quoc Oai successfully organized 8 competitions, including: Soccer, volleyball, badminton, tug of war, karate, pickleball, chess and Chinese chess, attracting more than 1,000 cadres, civil servants, public employees, students, members and people to participate.
From this movement, many outstanding athletes of the commune have shone in city and national arenas such as wrestler Tran Van Truong Vu, athlete Nguyen Thi Huyen (pencak silat), athlete Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet (handball)... contributing to affirming the position of the hometown Quoc Oai on the sports map of the capital.
The highlight of the opening ceremony was the traditional torch relay – the flame was taken from the Quoc Oai Palace Traditional House, where Uncle Ho used to live and work. Athlete Tran Van Truong Vu – who has won many gold medals at the national and regional levels – had the honor of carrying the torch to light the Congress’s cauldron, symbolizing the will, belief and aspiration of the Quoc Oai people in the new era.
Along with the parade showing off the force with the participation of 22 villages, agencies, schools, organizations, martial arts and folk dance groups, the Lion-Unicorn-Dragon Club of Go village, the welcoming art program imbued with local cultural identity created a solemn and vibrant atmosphere, arousing pride and solidarity in the community.
At the Congress, the People's Committee of Quoc Oai Commune awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 groups and 9 individuals with outstanding achievements in the sports movement, of which, Thach Than 4 village won the first prize, Ngo Sai village won the second prize and Phuong Cach 3 village won the third prize. In addition, many coaches, referees and athletes were honored for their outstanding contributions in organizing and competing.
The first Quoc Oai Commune Sports Festival is not only an occasion to demonstrate strength and honor the sportsmanship, but also a vivid demonstration of the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" which is increasingly developing widely, contributing to building a civilized, modern and traditional Quoc Oai commune...
