Taiwan reaches initial agreement on new trade initiative

CNN quoted an announcement from the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) saying that the agreement includes trade facilitation and management, anti-corruption and support for small and medium-sized enterprises of both sides.

Taiwan's Office of Trade Negotiations called the deal "historic" and said the island wanted to complete talks on all remaining issues by the end of the year.

The announcement of the trade deal came just ahead of planned meetings between Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao, US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and USTR Representative Katherine Tai.
