Speaking at the press conference, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi shared information about the overall situation of Vietnam under the leadership of the Party based on Ho Chi Minh's ideology. This includes an independent, self-reliant, peaceful , friendly, cooperative, and developmental foreign policy, multilateralization and diversification of international relations, and proactive and positive international integration.

Since President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the country has overcome many historical hardships and challenges, from the struggle and resistance against colonialism and imperialism to regain national sovereignty, liberate the South, and unify the country, to building and defending the Fatherland, as well as the current Doi Moi (Renovation) and international integration.

Regarding foreign relations and international cooperation, Vietnam has strengthened bilateral diplomacy and multilateral cooperation. To date, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with nearly 200 countries, comprehensive partnerships, strategic partnerships, or comprehensive strategic partnerships with 38 countries, and is an active member of more than 70 international and regional organizations. It has also signed 17 free trade agreements (FTAs), including many new-generation FTAs with over 60 countries and territories. The expanded visa exemption policy for 24 countries, effective from August 15th, also aims to promote international cooperation and integration, tourism development, and people-to-people exchanges.

In terms of defense, Vietnam has built a regular, elite, and progressively modernized people's armed forces, maintaining the "four no's" policy (no military alliances, no foreign bases, no alignment with one country against another, and no use or threat of force) and cooperating in defense with 60 countries, including many major powers. Vietnam has also established defense attaché offices in 35 countries, modernized its armed forces, and promoted cooperation in training and technology transfer.

Vietnam's economy has made remarkable progress, transforming from a poor, backward country heavily devastated by 30 years of war against foreign invaders into the world's 32nd largest economy and 25th largest in terms of purchasing power parity. Its GDP is projected to reach US$490 billion in 2025, with an average growth rate of 6-7% per year.

In the first seven months of 2025, Vietnam's import and export turnover reached US$514.7 billion, with a trade surplus of US$10.18 billion. It attracted US$24.09 billion in FDI, focusing on high technology and renewable energy. The multidimensional poverty rate decreased to 4.06%. In the social sector, Vietnam achieved a primary school enrollment rate of 99%, a lower secondary school enrollment rate of 95%, an average life expectancy of 75 years, and tourism welcomed 17.5 million international visitors in 2024, a significant increase compared to the previous year.

The most significant administrative reform in Vietnam's modern history, starting July 1st, streamlines the state apparatus, reducing the number of provincial and city-level administrative units from 63 to 34, shifting to a two-tiered local government model (province - commune), improving the efficiency of state management, being closer to the people, serving the people and businesses, and creating a favorable environment for sustainable economic growth. The target for GDP growth in 2025 is 8% or higher, aiming for double-digit growth in the 2026-2030 period.

Bilateral trade reached US$7.98 billion in 2024, with Vietnam exporting footwear, textiles, electronics, and coffee, and importing agricultural raw materials, beef, cotton, and grains from Brazil. Official and state visits between the two sides have strengthened relations and implemented many cooperation projects, including the announcement of the first shipments of pangasius, tilapia, and beef between the two countries.

Beyond economic and diplomatic cooperation, cultural and sports cooperation has also been strongly promoted. The Vietnamese Embassy organizes numerous events promoting culture, art, and cuisine, as well as celebrations of important milestones such as the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 17th anniversary of the Comprehensive Partnership; the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth; Vietnam Day in Brazil (November 2024); and the inauguration of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Plaque in Rio de Janeiro on the occasion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's participation in the G20 Summit (November 2024).
