Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs are becoming more and more famous and spreading strongly.

On the evening of November 23rd, at the Kinh Bac Cultural Center, a ceremony was held to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk singing being inscribed by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly, Nguyen Thi Thanh, attended and spoke at the event.

In his opening remarks at the event, Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan emphasized that Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs have been recognized for 15 years now. Throughout this time, Bac Ninh province has implemented many policies and initiatives to preserve and promote the value of this representative cultural heritage of humanity.

Along with restoring the performance spaces of the original Quan Ho villages, developing practicing Quan Ho villages, and establishing many Quan Ho clubs, the province has issued many mechanisms and policies to provide incentives for original Quan Ho villages, practicing Quan Ho villages, Quan Ho folk song clubs; artisans and artists of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs…

"Currently, the province has 44 original Quan Ho villages, 150 villages practicing Quan Ho, nearly 400 Quan Ho folk song clubs, with tens of thousands of people of all ages participating; of which more than 600 are capable of teaching."

"Throughout the country and abroad, hundreds of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk song clubs have been established and are regularly operating. This shows that Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs are becoming increasingly famous and spreading widely," the Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee informed.

To achieve today's success, along with the attention and guidance from the Central Government, and the coordination and assistance from provinces and cities, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan believes that it is due to the decisive and effective leadership and guidance of Party committees and authorities at all levels, the involvement of mass organizations, the entire political system in the province, the Quan Ho village communities; the consultation and proposals of state management agencies, experts researching and collecting the cultural heritage of Bac Ninh Quan Ho; and especially the great role of Quan Ho folk song artisans - the "Living Human Treasures" who have successfully fulfilled the mission of preserving, teaching, introducing, and promoting the unique cultural heritage of the Kinh Bac region.

At the event, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh happily announced that just a few hours ago, the National Assembly had voted to approve the draft Law on Cultural Heritage (amended), which includes a provision designating "November 23rd every year as Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day".

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly expressed his delight at joining representatives from the National Assembly's agencies, ministries, and localities in returning to the homeland of Quan Ho folk singing to attend the ceremony commemorating the 15th anniversary of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk singing being inscribed by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly stated that UNESCO's inscription of Quan Ho folk songs is proof of the unique cultural and artistic value, as well as our responsibility in preserving and promoting this heritage. Quan Ho folk songs not only live on in the lives of the people of Bac Ninh but also spread widely, contributing to affirming the unique traditional cultural values ​​of our country on the world cultural map.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, and with personal sentiment, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly commended the dedication, responsibility, and significant achievements that the Party Committee, government, and people of Bac Ninh province have made in the work of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly expressed his hope that the Party committees and authorities of Bac Ninh province would continue to give due attention to the preservation and promotion of the value of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs.

Emphasis should be placed on leadership and guidance to concretize and effectively implement the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws, and to promptly issue relevant mechanisms and policies, especially policies to honor and reward Quan Ho folk artists, particularly those who are elderly and frail.

At the same time, we will continue to promote and expand the forms of teaching to the younger generation, building a new generation of artisans; maintaining the activities of Quan Ho youth clubs, promoting the role and responsibility of artisans, male and female singers in transmitting and maintaining community cultural activities, spreading the Quan Ho space to students, civil servants, workers and grassroots art troupes.

"With love and pride for the national cultural identity, with dedication, responsibility, and determination, the Party committees, government, and community of Bac Ninh province, along with the artisans, will continue to work together to preserve, protect, and constantly promote the value of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk singing in particular, and cultural heritage in general, so that it continues to be passed on and spread in accordance with its inherent meaning and beautiful identity. This will contribute to ensuring that the beautiful and unchanging values ​​of Vietnamese culture continue to shine brightly in the flow of human civilization, so that culture truly becomes an intrinsic strength and driving force for national development and defense in the new era, the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise," Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh confidently stated.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 collectives and 2 individuals from Bac Ninh province for their outstanding achievements in preserving and promoting the value of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs; and 5 collectives with outstanding achievements in preserving and promoting the value of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs were commended by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Immediately following the ceremony, the delegates enjoyed a special artistic program with the theme "Reunion of Bamboo and Plum Blossoms" .

The program woven together and told the audience a story with diverse emotional nuances about Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs, the close relationship between Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs and other characteristic folk song forms from regions across the country such as Vi-Giam and Don Ca Tai Tu art through unique artistic performances.
