Professional ethics and social responsibility of journalists in the digital age

Attending the workshop were nearly 50 delegates representing Journalists Associations of provinces and cities: Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Bac Kan , Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Lang Son.

Speaking at the opening of the Workshop, Journalist Mai Duc Thong, Editor-in-Chief of Newspaper, Radio and Television, Chairman of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Journalists Association, emphasized that the Workshop took place in the context of local Party Committees successfully organizing Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party; preparing for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. These are important events of great significance in the political life of our country, affirming the revolutionary achievements and setting out goals, directions and tasks to bring our country to continue to develop, entering an era of growth.

The workshop is an important forum for Journalists Associations of provinces and cities to meet and exchange experiences in Association work; share good practices and effective models in organizing professional activities; and propose solutions to improve professional ethics and social responsibility of journalists.

In particular, 2025 is a year of many dramatic changes in press activities. Implementing the policy of streamlining the organizational apparatus, improving management effectiveness and the quality of information and propaganda, the process of arranging and merging press agencies is being deployed synchronously in many localities. This is an important step to overcome the fragmentation, dispersion of resources, and duplication of functions; at the same time, creating conditions for building a modern converged newsroom model, enhancing innovation capacity and enhancing the position of the press in the digital age...

Leaders of the Phu Tho Provincial Journalists Association presented a paper on the difficulties of the local Journalists Association after the merger.

Discussing at the Workshop, delegates presented a number of papers such as: "Building a cultural environment in press agencies" with the implementation of the Press Law, regulations on professional ethics of journalists; difficulties of the local Journalists Association after the merger; solutions of the Journalists Association in political and ideological work, professional ethics for members and journalists; social responsibility of journalists in the current period; promoting the role of the Association and Journalists Club in organizing the Association after merger and consolidation; Ethics and social responsibility of journalists in the current context - New challenges and requirements; solutions to improve the quality of training and fostering for members in the period of digital transformation and AI; Tuyen Quang Newspaper and Radio and Television with innovation in content and form of propaganda work on Party building...

At the Workshop, the Tuyen Quang Provincial Journalists Association awarded the rotating flag to host the Workshop of Journalists Associations of the Northern Midlands and Mountains Provinces and Hanoi City in 2026 to the Bac Ninh Provincial Journalists Association.
