The Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association has proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development allow the socialization of training programs on organic agriculture.
On November 19th, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a meeting with the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association regarding the plan to organize the 8th Asian Organic Conference in 2025 in Ninh Binh province. The Chairman of the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, Mr. Ha Phuc Mich, stated that a memorandum of understanding has been signed agreeing that Vietnam will host the 8th Asian Organic Conference (IFOAM) in 2025.
Currently, organic agriculture in Vietnam is receiving significant attention from the Party and the State, becoming a trend in domestic agricultural production and integrating with the world . Vietnam has policies and legal frameworks to support the development of organic agriculture, which have been embraced by provinces and cities. Community awareness of the role and inevitable trend of organic agriculture development has spread widely, but it is only in its early stages of development, and many issues, contents, and experiences need to be further exchanged and learned from international partners.

Mr. Ha Phuc Mich stated that the Asian Organic Conference is an organic event bringing together scientists, businesses, and local government leaders from approximately 33 countries. This is an opportunity for Ninh Binh in particular, and Vietnam in general, to learn from and draw inspiration from countries in the region and internationally regarding the development of organic agriculture, contributing to promoting the people, tourism, and green, organic agricultural production of Ninh Binh province in particular and Vietnamese agriculture in general.
"Through the 8th Asian Organic Conference, high-quality organic agricultural products and OCOP products from Vietnam will be widely introduced. Therefore, this is an opportunity to introduce and promote Vietnamese medicinal products to the world, boosting the development of the domestic medicinal industry."
"At the same time, the event not only helps Ninh Binh affirm its economic, cultural, and social development but also contributes to enhancing the image of Vietnam, demonstrating integration and sustainable development in the international community," said Mr. Ha Phuc Mich.
During the meeting, the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association also shared additional suggestions related to the development of organic agriculture in Vietnam. Regarding Decision No. 885/QD-TTg dated June 23, 2020, on the Organic Agriculture Development Plan for the period 2020-2030, Mr. Ha Phuc Mich proposed the need for a specific data assessment for phase 1 (2020-2025), including land area, indicators, and production volume of organic agricultural products in each province. This would allow for accurate assessments and consideration of necessary adjustments to ensure that the set goals for organic agriculture development are achieved by 2030.

Mr. Ha Phuc Mich further proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development allow the socialization of training programs on organic agriculture.
Listening to the sharing and proposals from the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien emphasized: “Currently, state management must follow an open-minded approach. Human resources for developing organic agriculture at the local level are limited, so human resource training is a top priority. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development agrees to allow the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association to socialize training programs on organic agriculture.”
Furthermore, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will support the Association in introducing businesses to participate in these programs, thereby expanding the cooperation network and improving the effectiveness of training and developing organic agriculture to reach world-class standards.”
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will also participate in leading and coordinating with the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association in collecting and providing Vietnam's organic database.
