| By early afternoon of October 28, Kim Quy Pass was open to traffic. |
The landslide on Kim Quy Pass occurred on October 27, with the first point at Km48+800. While the Thua Thien Hue Road Construction and Management Joint Stock Company was handling the landslide that had covered the road, about 300m away, at Km49+200, a second landslide occurred.
The landslide caused rocks and soil from the hill to flow down onto the road, completely cutting off this section of the route. At that time, many vehicles were stuck and forced to turn around.
After leaving behind machinery and vehicles and retreating to a safe place, at around 4 a.m. on October 28, the forces of Thua Thien Hue Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company urgently leveled and cleared the two landslides.
“The unit mobilized 2 excavators, 3 trucks carrying soil and rock and 15 people to handle the 2 landslides mentioned above with the volume of soil and rock cleared of about 1,500m3,” informed a representative of Thua Thien Hue Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company.
"Currently, Kim Quy Pass is open, however, with the complicated flood situation, the Km49+200 location still has a risk of landslides, so everyone is advised to be extremely careful when passing through," Mr. Tran Xuan Anh warned.
