On November 12, US President-elect Donald Trump announced his nomination of Fox News host Pete Hegseth to be the US Secretary of Defense.

Mr. Trump shared: " With Pete Hegseth at the helm, America's enemies should beware. The American military will be great again, and America will never back down."

The Associated Press (AP) reported that Pete Hegseth is a former military officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2012, Hegseth ran for the Senate in Minnesota but was unsuccessful. Afterward, he joined Fox News.

Mr. Hegseth (44 years old) holds a bachelor's degree from Princeton University and a graduate degree from Harvard. He is a co-host of "Fox & Friends Weekends" and the author of the book "The War on Warriors: Behind the Betrayal of the Men Who Keep Us Free".

Mr. Miller is one of President-elect Donald Trump's longest-serving and most trusted advisors. He worked with Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign before joining the White House as a senior advisor. He is best known for being the principal author of some of the toughest immigration policies during Trump's first term, including the policy of separating immigrant families.

Director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency

In a statement on the social media platform Truth Social on November 11, US President-elect Donald Trump announced that Tom Homan, who served as Acting Director of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency for 1.5 years during his first term, could continue in the position.

Donald Trump said that Homan would be responsible for the southern and northern borders, maritime and air security, and efforts to deport undocumented immigrants. This is a central part of the agenda that Trump pledged throughout his 2024 presidential campaign.

Speaking on Fox News that same day, Homan said he was honored to be appointed.

US Ambassador to the United Nations

Also in a statement on November 11, Donald Trump said: " I am honored to nominate Elise Stefanik to my Cabinet as the United Nations Ambassador. Elise is an incredibly strong, tough, and intelligent American fighter ."

Responding to the nomination, Stefanik said she felt "truly honored" by Trump's announcement. Elected to the House in 2014, Stefanik was chosen to chair the House Republican Conference in 2021 after former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney was removed from office. Since then, Stefanik, 40, has served in the role as the third-highest ranking member of the House leadership.

White House Chief of Staff
