Before the working session, the delegation surveyed the actual situation at two families of war veterans in Thanh Chuong town: the family of Mr. Truong Huy Khoa in Block 2A, who is eligible for housing assistance, and the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai in Block 3A, who is eligible for land allocation under the housing policy.

As the district with the third largest number of people with meritorious service, Thanh Chuong currently has 6,554 such individuals. Regarding housing incentives, a review in 2022 revealed that 851 households in the district needed housing assistance, including 351 new constructions and 500 house renovations. In 2024, the district is expected to have 781 households needing housing assistance, including 381 new constructions and 423 house renovations.

Over the past period, the District People's Committee, in coordination with the Provincial Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, has supported and built 15 new houses for relatives of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution, with a total cost of nearly 790 million VND. Regarding preferential land use from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2024, the district has exempted and reduced land use fees for 7 cases, totaling over 2.3 billion VND.

At the conference, the delegation members focused on discussing and highlighting some difficulties in implementing policies to support and provide preferential treatment regarding housing and land for people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution in the district.

Concluding the meeting, Ms. Thai Thi An Chung, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the province, highly appreciated the attention and involvement of the Party Committee, government, and socio-political organizations in Thanh Chuong district in supporting people with meritorious services. She also requested that in the future, the District People's Committee should research and advise the District Party Committee on solutions to overcome existing shortcomings in the implementation of preferential policies for people with meritorious services; pay more attention to people with meritorious services, and prioritize resources to support them in the district.

In addition, the district needs to pay attention to inspecting, guiding, and urging local authorities to review the cases of war veterans and their families who need housing and land; and to strengthen the dissemination of policies and guidelines, especially new policies, to war veterans and their families in the area.
