Vietnam athletics team leads with 15 gold medals

On the morning of June 6, at Hoa Xuan Athletics Stadium (Cam Le District, Da Nang City), within the framework of the 13th Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival, 7 athletics events took place.

Male athletes participate in the running event on June 5, 2024.

The Vietnamese sports delegation continued to win 3 more Gold Medals in 3 events including: In the men's javelin throw, athlete Phan Van Anh Kiet had a time of 68.19 m; in the women's 2,000 m hurdles, athlete Dinh Thi Thu Huong had a time of 7 minutes 22 seconds 51; in the 2,000 m hurdles, athlete Luong Xuan Son had a time of 6 minutes 14 seconds 93.

In the women's 2,000m steeplechase and women's triple jump events, two Vietnamese female athletes won Silver Medals; in the women's 4x400m relay event, the Vietnamese team won Bronze Medals.

In addition, athletes from other countries also won Gold Medals such as: In the triple jump, female athlete Katyea Ebri Safitri (Indonesia) with a time of 12.70 m; in the women's 100 m hurdles, athlete Farah Syakira Binti Azifsafarin (Malaysia) with a time of 14 seconds 46; in the women's 4x400 m relay, Team Thailand with a time of 3 minutes 50 seconds 52; in the men's 4x400 m relay, Team Thailand with a time of 3 minutes 11 seconds 72.

Thus, at the end of the 4th day of competition, the Vietnamese Athletics Team led with 15 Gold Medals, 12 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals. The second ranked team was Thailand with 8 Gold Medals, 6 Silver Medals, 6 Bronze Medals. The third ranked team was Malaysia with 7 Gold Medals, 9 Silver Medals, 6 Bronze Medals.
