Mu Cang Chai commune strengthens forest fire prevention and control in the dry season

Entering the dry season this year, Mu Cang Chai commune has strengthened measures to prevent and fight forest fires, effectively promoted 22 forest protection teams, prevented and fought forest fires in 22 villages, and propagated to people to repair and build firebreaks in border areas prone to forest fires.

Ban De Thang has a rugged terrain, steep slopes, difficult transportation, and dry climate, which are potential risk factors for forest fires. In recent times, the village has increased propaganda to raise awareness of forest protection and forest fire prevention among the people. At the same time, it has coordinated with forces to effectively implement payments for forest environmental services. Thanks to that, forest fires and illegal logging have decreased significantly compared to previous years.

Mr. Giang A Cu - Head of De Thang village shared: We have coordinated with specialized agencies to organize people to sign a commitment to protect forests and prevent and fight forest fires; at the same time, we have reviewed and counted the area of ​​swidden fields near the forest, and provided guidance on swidden burning techniques to ensure fire prevention.

Promoting the role of the forest protection team, De Thanh village mobilized people to participate in clearing, creating firebreaks, building guardhouses at high-risk fire areas, ensuring full forest fire prevention plans with the motto "4 on-site" to minimize forest fires in the dry season.

In Mang Mu village, recently, the "4 on-site" motto has been ensured in forest fire prevention and control; members of the forest protection team have actively disseminated forest fire prevention and control skills and the Forestry Law; and raised awareness of forest protection and forest fire prevention and control among the people.

Mr. Mua A Tru, Mang Mu village said: In the past, people burned fields without paying attention to the wind direction or the time of burning, so the fire easily spread into the forest. Since being informed and instructed, we have understood and know how to burn fields properly, so forest fires do not occur.

Mu Cang Chai commune currently has a total natural area of ​​nearly 14,700 hectares, including nearly 8,000 hectares of protective forest, nearly 5,400 hectares of natural forest, nearly 2,538 hectares of planted forest and over 1,483 hectares of production forest.

In recent times, Mu Cang Chai has closely followed the directives and guidance documents of the Central and the province on forest management, protection, and forest fire prevention and control to each village and each family; effectively promoted forest protection and forest fire prevention teams in 22 villages, done a good job of propagating to the people about forest protection and forest fire prevention and control, focused on repairing and building firebreaks in the boundary areas prone to forest fires.

In addition, the commune has directed the assignment of forest owners to be on duty to prevent forest fires at high-risk areas during peak hours. Along with that, patrols and inspections have been increased to handle violations related to forests; and commitments have been signed with households in the area to manage, protect forests, and prevent and fight forest fires.

To effectively carry out forest protection and forest fire prevention in the dry season, from the beginning of November, Mu Cang Chai commune organized a conference to deploy forest protection and forest fire prevention.

Comrade Giang A Cau - Secretary of the Commune Party Committee said: The Commune directs villages and hamlets to strengthen propaganda for people to raise awareness about forest protection, forest fire prevention and control in the dry season; enhance the role and responsibility of forest management and protection and members of the Steering Committee for Sustainable Forestry Development.

At the same time, the commune directed the villages to organize meetings with the people, sign commitments on forest protection, forest fire prevention and control; equip necessary equipment related to forest fire prevention and control; continue to effectively promote the "4 on-site" motto in forest protection and forest fire prevention and control in the area.

Mu Cang Chai Commune has organized the dissemination, dissemination and extensive propaganda to cadres, party members, union members, association members and people about the provisions of the law on forestry, forest fire prevention and control skills, Resolution 27 of the Standing Committee of the Commune Party Committee on strengthening the leadership role of Party committees and authorities in forest protection and forest fire prevention and control in the dry season. Propaganda work is deployed in many flexible forms, suitable to the conditions and language of each village, ensuring that each person understands the requirements, responsibilities and regulations when living near and in the forest.

Along with that, the commune urgently reviewed, supplemented, and completed the forest fire prevention and control plan; clearly defined areas at risk of fire to arrange appropriate guard forces; maintained regular duty throughout the dry season, fully ensuring the "4 on-site" motto. The system of signs, forest fire forecast boards, guardhouses, and firebreaks were regularly checked, repaired, and supplemented to maintain stable operation throughout the dry season.

Coordination between forest rangers, police, military , forest owners, the Fatherland Front, organizations and villages continues to be strengthened to proactively prevent, detect and stop violations, ensuring unity in forest protection, forest fire prevention and control throughout the commune...
