Provincial Youth Union awarded certificates of merit to brave young men who rescued people in floods

Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Luong Minh Tung recently visited, encouraged and awarded a certificate of merit from the Provincial Youth Union Executive Committee to Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, born in 1997, a member of the Phu An Quarter Youth Union (Tuy Hoa Ward) for his brave action in saving people during the flood in November 2025.

During the recent heavy rains, floodwaters in the eastern communes and wards of the province rose rapidly, many residential areas were isolated, and people had to climb onto their roofs to call for help. Phu An ward was one of the deeply flooded areas.

Faced with that situation, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh did not have time to think about his family's property, he used his canoe to cross the rushing water, sneaked to the households, and successively brought more than 500 people in Phu An neighborhood and neighboring areas, from children, women to the elderly, out of the flood water.

Mr. Luong Minh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, presented a certificate of merit from the Provincial Youth Union Executive Committee to Mr. Nguyen Van Minh.

Recognizing Minh’s spirit of selflessness for the community, Provincial Youth Union Secretary Luong Minh Tung emphasized: “Mr. Nguyen Van Minh’s brave actions not only supported the authorities in evacuating people from dangerous areas, but also demonstrated his sense of responsibility, compassion and self-sacrifice for the community. This is a typical example of good people and good deeds for union members and youths in and outside the province to learn and follow.”

On this occasion, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Luong Minh Tung also visited and encouraged the youth volunteer team of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education who are participating in repairing electricity and household appliances for free for people affected by floods in Dong Xuan commune.
