Vietnam team lineup to play Laos: Quang Hai on the bench, coach Kim Sang-sik trusts Hoang Duc

The three players not registered by coach Kim Sang-sik are Nguyen Xuan Son, Nguyen Trung Kien and Chau Ngoc Quang. Of these, Nguyen Xuan Son is still not eligible to play for the Vietnam national team. The remaining two are absent due to technical reasons.

Coach Kim Sang-sik surprised everyone when he chose Nguyen Dinh Trieu to start the AFF Cup 2024 instead of Nguyen Filip. Dinh Trieu was chosen because of his ability to communicate with teammates and good footwork. In front of him is left-sided center-back Bui Tien Dung, right-sided center-back Thanh Chung and the center-back is Do Duy Manh.

The three central midfielders of the Vietnamese team are Doan Ngoc Tan, Nguyen Hoang Duc and Nguyen Hai Long. The left backs are Khuat Van Khang and the right back is Truong Tien Anh. The striker pair is Nguyen Tien Linh and Bui Vi Hao. The Vietnamese team plays with a 3-5-2 formation.

If applying the 3-4-3 tactical system, Nguyen Hai Long will play right forward, Vi Hao will play left forward and Tien Linh will play closest to the penalty area. Ngoc Tan and Hoang Duc will control the midfield.

Before the match, coach Kim Sang-sik said: " Tomorrow's match is not just a normal football match, it has a bigger meaning, about national spirit and national colors. We will fight for that. I know the Vietnamese community in Laos is very large, and they will be at the stadium tomorrow to cheer for the team.

This brings great encouragement, motivating us to be determined to win to bring joy to domestic fans as well as compatriots living and working in Laos ."

The match between Vietnam and Laos will take place at Laos National Stadium at 8:00 p.m. on December 9.
