The journey to support the coffee industry will continue, not just identifying challenges and introducing practical solutions. The Vietnam Coffee Innovation Cluster and its partners are committed to supporting the implementation and scaling up of solutions, promoting further progress for sustainable agriculture .
This information was presented at the final round of the "Innovative Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation in the Coffee Industry" competition. The event recently took place at Tay Nguyen University ( Dak Lak province ), a collaboration between the Tay Nguyen Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences and the Coffee Industry Innovation Cluster. Eight teams from four localities reached the final round: Son La, Quang Tri, Dak Lak, and Ho Chi Minh City. The judging panel included experts, reputable managers in the coffee industry, sponsors from the local business community involved in the coffee sector, and representatives from the Australian Embassy.
Accordingly, the coffee-related solutions from the teams of Son La, Quang Tri, Dak Lak, and Ho Chi Minh City proposed innovations at many stages in the coffee value chain: from sustainable intercropping models, smart technology-based land and water management, low-emission farming, circular agriculture to innovative and effective community linkage models and novel market approaches.

Simultaneously, within the framework of the program, domestic and international experts in the coffee industry also provided in-depth advice to enhance the commercialization potential and scalability of the solution, while also connecting with a network of technical support and potential partners for the next implementation phase.
According to Dr. Kim Wimbush, Counsellor at the Australian National Science Agency (CSIRO) and Director of the Aus4Innovation Program, the impressive solutions presented this time demonstrate Vietnam's enormous innovation potential. Given the reality of a 20% decrease in Vietnam's robusta coffee production in the 2024-2025 crop year due to drought and pests, initiatives like these are more urgent than ever.

“Through the Aus4Innovation program, the Australian Government is committed to continuing its support with practical actions to enhance innovation capacity, helping the coffee industry not only adapt but also develop sustainably in the face of climate change,” Counselor Kim Wimbush stated.
On this occasion, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Duc Niem, Vice Rector of Tay Nguyen University , representing the Coordinating Board of the Vietnam Coffee Industry Innovation Cluster, expressed his belief that cooperation is key to protecting the livelihoods of 2.6 million coffee farmers, while maintaining Vietnam's leading position in global coffee production.
The "Innovative Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation in the Coffee Industry" competition, organized by the Coffee Industry Innovation Cluster, successfully concluded with the Final Round and Award Ceremony held at Tay Nguyen University, Dak Lak, on Vietnam Coffee Day (December 10, 2025). The Australian Embassy partnered with the competition. After a rigorous and transparent selection process, the top prize was awarded to the Madam Huong - An Viet Farm team for their solution: "A method for cultivating specialty coffee under multi-layered forest canopy adapted to climate change." This affirms the potential of grassroots initiatives to open new, sustainable paths for the Vietnamese coffee industry in the face of climate change challenges.
