From the 2020-2021 school year, the 2018 general education program will be implemented synchronously throughout the province. In response to the requirements for innovation in content, methods and forms of assessment, the education sector has identified promoting the emulation movement "Innovation and creativity in management, teaching and learning" as an important solution, contributing to the effective implementation of educational tasks in the new period.
Mr. Dang Hong Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, said: The Department has issued guidelines for implementing emulation movements at each level of education; at the same time, it requires educational institutions to develop specific plans, linking the movement with practical conditions and professional tasks of each unit.
Following the industry's guidelines, many schools have chosen innovative content that is close to teaching practices, such as increasing the application of information technology and organizing experiential activities by topic. At the same time, teachers are instructed to proactively adjust lesson plans according to students' abilities, combine product assessments and increase interaction during class hours...
For example, at Hoang Dong Primary School (Tam Thanh Ward), Ms. Hoang La Lan Huyen has implemented the initiative "Teaching methods of Fine Arts subject towards developing creative capacity and aesthetic application for primary school students" (school year 2023-2024). Ms. Huyen said: The content of the initiative focuses on building flexible teaching plans, designing lectures according to topics related to practice, combining experiential activities and evaluating through products. After one year of implementation, the percentage of students completing the subject well increased from 48.5% to 57.3%, with no students failing to complete.
The actual implementation of the movement shows that many teachers have proactively proposed initiatives and teaching models suitable to the characteristics of the subject and the conditions of the school. Some schools have increased professional activities in an open direction, built a shared digital learning resource warehouse, organized classes combining face-to-face and online learning to meet diverse learning needs; integrated life skills, life values education and ideological orientation through each learning activity, in line with the comprehensive requirements of the new general education program.
At Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, the teaching staff has proposed many innovative teaching methods, focusing on training students' critical thinking and presentation skills. From the innovations in the learning environment, many students have promoted their creativity and applied knowledge into practice. A typical example is Le Duc Anh, a student of class 11E2, leader of the project "Scoobeedoo - Some organic products made from yeast", who won first prize at the provincial-level student startup idea competition in 2024. Duc Anh said: From the lessons in class, teachers have inspired students with new teaching methods, encouraging students to ask questions, actively explore and practice. Through that, I have gained more confidence, know how to develop ideas and express my opinions before the review board.
According to records from schools, from the 2023-2024 school year to now, the whole sector has had over 2,100 initiatives to innovate teaching methods of teachers registered, of which nearly 500 initiatives were recognized at the grassroots level and 30 initiatives proposed for consideration at the provincial level. The content of the initiatives focuses on improving teaching methods, innovating assessment forms, and developing students' capacity. Some initiatives have been applied in both direct and online teaching, supporting management and improving professional efficiency.
Through the emulation movement, along with the implementation of appropriate initiatives and models at each educational institution, the quality of teaching and learning in the province has had many positive changes. It is noted that in the last two school years, about 99% of primary school students have been assessed to have completed their school curriculum; at the junior high and high school levels, over 70% of students have achieved good or better academic performance. Notably, in the 2024-2025 school year, the whole province has 34 students winning national excellent student awards, an increase of 1 award compared to the previous school year; the high school graduation rate reached 99.19%, an increase of 0.09%.
With the results achieved, the whole industry continues to focus on improving the quality of initiatives, replicating effective models, and enhancing the capacity of innovation for the team. Thereby, making the emulation movement "Innovation and creativity in management, teaching and learning" truly become a driving force for schools and teachers to change, gradually meeting the requirements of educational innovation.
