In the B-segment sedan market, the Honda City once had the highest suggested retail price. Therefore, despite being highly regarded for its driving feel and feature set, this model has not yet become the choice of the majority.
In September, Honda Vietnam adjusted the price of the City, reducing it by 40-60 million VND depending on the version. The new price for the Japanese model starts at 499 million VND and goes up to 569 million VND, instead of the previous range of 559-609 million VND.

After adjustments, the starting price of the Honda City is still higher than its competitors, but the RS version is no longer the most expensive in the segment, on par with the "full" version of the Hyundai Accent (569 million VND) (Photo: Nguyen Lam).
Besides the price reduction, the manufacturer is no longer offering the 50% registration fee discount for the City in September. However, because it is assembled domestically, this model is still eligible for the 50% registration fee reduction, according to the government 's support policy.
With the new pricing and the warming market, Honda City's sales boomed, with 1,590 units delivered, nearly 3.8 times higher than in August.
This result helped the Honda City surpass the Hyundai Accent in September, taking the number 2 spot in the B-segment sedan market. The Korean model sold 1,290 units, a 37% increase.

Considering cumulative sales in the first 9 months of the year, Hyundai Accent is still in the number 2 position in the B-class sedan segment, with a total of 8,200 vehicles delivered (Photo: TC Motor).
The best-selling model in this segment in September continued to be the Toyota Vios. The Japanese model experienced a surge in sales thanks to the manufacturer offering a 50% discount on registration fees, allowing consumers to enjoy a "double" benefit of up to 100% off registration fees, due to being assembled domestically.
Specifically, Vios sold 1,842 cars in September, an increase of 82% compared to August.

The remaining positions in the B-segment sedan market are occupied by the Mazda2, Mitsubishi Attrage, and Kia Soluto. Of these, the Mazda2 is the only product in this group to experience a decline in sales last month. This model is imported as a complete unit and does not offer any attractive promotions.

This segment also includes the Nissan Almera, but the manufacturer has not released sales figures (Photo: Nguyen Lam).
