Coach Mai Duc Chung surprised his Cambodian opponents with a changed lineup compared to the two matches against Malaysia and Myanmar. Thanh Nha, Van Su, My Anh, and Thuy Trang started the game, and Vietnam created considerable strength. The head coach of the Vietnamese women's football team even benched Huynh Nhu, giving Hai Yen a starting spot, and replaced Kim Thanh with goalkeeper Khong Thi Hang, showing that Coach Chung knew his strengths and weaknesses and was very confident in the players he used.
Cheered on by a large home crowd, Cambodia played quite well in the early minutes of the match. The host nation's team showed significant improvement compared to the SEA Games 31. Coach Gao Fulin's players possessed relatively good technique, knew how to coordinate attacks, and played confidently. However, overall, they still had a gap to bridge compared to the reigning SEA Games champions, so they couldn't pull off an upset.
The joy of victory for the Vietnamese girls.
Van Su's opening goal, following a beautiful pass and acceleration from My Anh, showcased the class of the Vietnamese women's team. A quick and well-prepared attack down the left flank left the Cambodian defense unable to stop it. After Van Su's goal, the Vietnamese girls played even better and more fluidly, with Hai Yen and Thuy Trang easily scoring three goals in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, despite bringing on Huynh Nhu, Thu Thuong, Hoang Thi Loan, Duong Thi Van, and Tuyet Dung, coach Mai Duc Chung instructed his players to slow down the pace to conserve energy and avoid injuries and yellow cards. Although not attacking as much as in the first half, Vietnam still managed a late goal from a penalty kick scored by Huynh Nhu to seal a 4-0 victory. This win against Cambodia not only demonstrated the superior class of the Vietnamese women's team but also showed that coach Mai Duc Chung has a fairly balanced squad at his disposal, with little difference between the reserve and starting players.

In the final on May 15th, the Vietnamese women's team will face Myanmar – the opponent that surprisingly defeated Thailand 4-2 in the second semi-final last night. In the group stage, the Vietnamese girls easily beat Myanmar 3-1, so they will play more confidently when facing this opponent again. However, coach Mai Duc Chung cautiously stated that the results in the qualifying round and the nature of the final match are completely different. Myanmar is in very high spirits after defeating Thailand, and it should be remembered that they also won against the Philippines, so the Vietnamese players must not be complacent and need to prepare as best as possible for the final.
The women's football final will take place at the Olympic Stadium at 7:30 PM on May 15th. If they win, the Vietnamese women's football team will have won their 8th SEA Games gold medal, and their 4th consecutive championship title in this competition.
