As expected, against the opponent considered the weakest in group B, the Vietnamese women's team had an explosive victory with goals from : Hai Yen (4', 27'), Bich Thuy (22'), Hai Linh (32'), Thai Thi Thao (47', 59', 78').
After the opening whistle, the Vietnamese women's team scored an early goal in the 4th minute. From a cross from Nguyen Thi Hoa on the right wing, the Malaysian goalkeeper fumbled, creating an opportunity for Hai Yen to open the score for Vietnam.

In the 22nd minute, a similar scenario occurred. Malaysia goalkeeper Ezza Ashikin made another mistake in judging the landing point, before Hai Linh's cross from the left wing. Immediately, Bich Thuy headed the ball into the opponent's net.
5 minutes later, the score was 3-0 for Vietnam: from a high ball situation, when Van Su passed the ball into the penalty area, Hai Yen broke the offside trap and headed the ball to score.
The goals kept coming to the Vietnamese women's team. In the 32nd minute, from a pass from Truc Huong on the right wing, Hai Linh connected to raise the score to 4-0 for the home team. Before the end of the first half, the Vietnamese women's team had 3 consecutive chances but could not capitalize on them.

In the second half, coach Mai Duc Chung brought Thai Thi Thao onto the field. Just 3 minutes later, she put the Vietnamese women's team ahead 5-0. In the 59th minute, Thai Thi Thao continued to put her name on the scoreboard. In the 78th minute, Thai Thi Thao completed her own hat-trick.
The last 10 minutes saw the Vietnamese women's team continue to push forward to create a bigger gap in the score. Unfortunately, in the 89th minute, Ngoc Minh Chuyen's shot hit the post.

The 7-0 victory over Malaysia put the Vietnamese women's team temporarily at the top of Group B, ahead of Myanmar in terms of goal difference (the Myanmar women's team beat the Philippines 2-1 in the previous match).
In Group A, Thailand won 8-0 against Indonesia (match took place on December 4).
