Simultaneous reduction of SJC gold bars and gold rings

(NLĐO) – Gold prices fell today at the start of the new trading week, both in the domestic and international markets.

On the morning of January 13th, the world gold price opened the new trading week at $2,686 per ounce, down approximately $5 per ounce compared to the closing price of the previous week. The price of gold fell amidst the continued strong performance of the US dollar.

The US dollar index currently stands at 109.4 points, its highest level since October 2022. Since the beginning of September 2024, the US dollar index has risen steadily from around 100 points to its current peak of over 109 points (a 9% increase).

If we consider the past month, the price of gold has increased by approximately $40 per ounce today.

World gold prices fell at the start of the week, causing domestic gold prices to cool down after three consecutive weeks of increases.

This morning, SJC Gold Company listed the buying price of gold bars at 84.6 million VND/ounce and the selling price at 86.6 million VND/ounce, a decrease of 200,000 VND/ounce compared to the end of last week. Gold prices have cooled down after increasing by about 3 million VND/ounce in recent days.

This is also the selling price of SJC gold bars at Sacombank, Eximbank, Vietcombank, BIDV , and PNJ.

Meanwhile, Mi Hong company's selling price dropped even more sharply, to 86 million VND/ounce;ACB sold at 86.5 million VND/ounce, while some other companies such as Bao Tin Minh Chau maintained a high selling price of 86.8 million VND/ounce.

Along with gold bars, the prices of gold rings and other gold jewelry have also decreased. Currently, the buying price of gold rings is listed by businesses at around 84.6 million VND/ounce, and the selling price at 86.4 million VND/ounce, a decrease of 200,000 VND/ounce compared to the end of last week.

The price of gold rings also varies between businesses. However, the supply of 99.99% pure gold rings on the market is limited.

Some gold shops in Ho Chi Minh City say they only sell gold jewelry of all kinds and do not trade in gold rings (including plain gold rings made by the shop itself or gold rings from brands such as SJC and PNJ).

Currently, the world gold price, converted according to the listed exchange rate, is approximately 82.8 million VND per tael.
