New driving force to attract investment capital to Da Nang

DNVN - According to the Da Nang Statistics Office, the establishment of a free trade zone is creating a new and important driving force for the city to attract domestic and foreign investment, develop high-tech industry, digital transformation and innovation.

In the first 7 months of 2025 (from January 1 to July 25), Da Nang attracted nearly 62,500 billion VND in domestic investment, an increase of 126% over the same period last year. Of which, new investment policies and investment certificates were granted to 64 projects with a total capital of more than 43,400 billion VND, an increase of 89.5%; capital was adjusted for 26 projects with an additional capital of 19,000 billion VND, an increase of more than 300% (in the same period of 2024, the city attracted more than 27,600 billion VND in domestic investment; of which 24 new projects were granted nearly 23,000 billion VND, 13 projects were adjusted with a total additional capital of 4,700 billion VND).

Launched the Fab-Lab project with a total investment of VND 1,800 billion at the end of July 2025.

Notably, in July, Da Nang City started the project of the Laboratory for Semiconductor Microchip Packaging Technology Production (Fab-Lab) with a total investment of 1,800 billion VND. This is a pioneering model to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo and the Strategy for the Development of the Vietnamese Semiconductor Industry according to Decision 1018/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

Covering an area of ​​nearly 2,300 square meters, the project consists of two main functional areas: research and pilot production of modern microchip packaging technology. Fab-Lab is expected to play a core role in forming and developing a high-tech ecosystem in Da Nang, contributing to realizing the goal of turning the city into a high-tech industrial center of the Central region and the whole country.

Not only promoting the development of the semiconductor industry, the project also contributes to improving research capacity, mastering core technology, and gradually participating in the global value chain. Fab-Lab will create a favorable environment to attract domestic and foreign investment projects in the high-tech field. At the same time, it plays an important role in training and developing high-quality human resources to serve the city's long-term and sustainable development strategy in the field of science and technology .

Regarding foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction, in July 2025 (from June 26 to July 25), Da Nang attracted 9 newly licensed projects with a total registered capital of nearly 9 million USD; no capital adjustment projects occurred and there were 5 capital contributions, shares and capital contributions in economic organizations with a capital of 0.3 million USD.

In total, from the beginning of the year to July 25, the city attracted more than 307 million USD in FDI capital, an increase of 4.6% over the same period in 2024. Of which, 65 new projects were granted with registered capital of more than 200 million USD (in the same period in 2024, 57 new projects were granted with a total capital of more than 235 million USD); there were 24 capital adjustment projects with a total capital increase of nearly 86 million USD, an increase of 20% in the number of projects and nearly 50% in capital...

According to the Da Nang Statistical Office, the city has a new and important driving force to promote domestic and foreign investment attraction, high-tech industry development, digital transformation and innovation. That is the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone (FTZ Da Nang) with the orientation of becoming an international production and goods transit center, connecting with Lien Chieu port, international airport and East-West economic corridor.

With a scale of more than 1,880 hectares, including functional zones of production, logistics; trade - services; digital technology industry, IT, innovation..., Da Nang FTZ is expected to contribute to shifting the economic structure towards modernity, sustainability and integration, enhancing the competitiveness and position of the city in Asia - Pacific.
