Education is a central driving force in the development vision.

July 1st, 2025 marks a significant milestone in the administrative reform process in many localities. In Dong Thap , this event is not only a change in the management model but also the beginning of a new aspiration for development in this land of lotus flowers.

The transition to a two-tiered government model has helped Dong Thap streamline its management system, shorten intermediate levels, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and enhance administrative efficiency. Prior to the transition, the province had completed the standardization of 21 out of 25 online public services, integrating them into the overall operating system – a step forward in the roadmap to building a digital government that is close to and for the people.

In that spirit, Dong Thap province identifies education as the central driving force in the new development phase. By 2030, the province aims for 85% of the workforce to be trained, of which 65% will have received vocational training; the Human Development Index (HDI) to reach 0.75; and 100% of secondary schools to apply digital technology in teaching and management.

Many experiential learning, entrepreneurship, and STEM education models have been effectively integrated into the general education curriculum. Competitions such as "School Innovation Ideas," "Smart Agricultural Products," outdoor classroom models, and "Students as Farmers" have spread in Thap Muoi, Lai Vung, Cao Lanh, etc., creating a positive wave of innovation.

The Department of Education and Training of Dong Thap province aims to have at least 70% of teachers meet or exceed professional standards by 2026, gradually improving the quality of the teaching staff to meet the requirements of innovation. Secondary schools will continue to play the role of community learning centers, contributing to building a truly sustainable learning society.
