Weather forecast for November 18: Heavy rain will last until November 21, Hue will see flooding on many rivers, Da Nang will continue to have very heavy rain. Many areas in the Central region may have total rainfall exceeding 850mm.

Heavy rain covers the Central region: Hue and Da Nang are most affected

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, strong cold air combined with easterly winds maintain heavy rain over a wide area. From Ha Tinh to Da Nang and the eastern provinces of Quang Ngai to Dak Lak , Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong recorded moderate to very heavy rain.

Hue and Da Nang are the two places with the highest rainfall in the region. The rainfall from 7pm yesterday to 3am this morning was measured at Binh Dien station (Hue) at 332mm and Phuoc Tra station (Da Nang) at 255mm.

Floods in Hue continue to rise, 30 communes and wards are at risk of flooding.

Heavy rains caused the Huong and Bo rivers in Hue to rise rapidly. At 6 a.m. on November 17, the Bo river at Phu Oc reached 4.79 m, about 0.29 m higher than alert level 3. The Huong river at Kim Long reached 2.48 m, about 0.48 m higher than alert level 2.

Today, the flood peak on Bo River is forecast to reach 5m, about 0.5m higher than alert level 3. Huong River is forecast to reach 3.80m, about 0.3m higher than alert level 3.

Da Nang continues to have heavy rain, risk of flooding in the coming days

From this morning to the night of November 18, the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang and the east of Quang Ngai - Gia Lai will have heavy to very heavy rain, commonly 200 - 450mm, some places over 700mm.

On November 19, Da Nang continued to record heavy rain, with rainfall of 70 - 150mm, locally over 250mm. The risk of flooding in Da Nang and low-lying areas along the river was warned at a high level.

Total rainfall may exceed 850mm in Hue - Da Nang and neighboring areas

From the afternoon of November 16 to the end of November 19, total rain at:

Quang Tri to Da Nang, east of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai: 300 - 600mm, some places over 850mm.

Ha Tinh, east of Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa: 150 - 350mm, some places over 500mm.

West of Quang Ngai to Dak Lak: 100 - 200mm, some places over 350mm.

From November 20, heavy rain is likely to continue in Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, and Khanh Hoa.

From November 22, the rain gradually decreased.

Flood warning on many major rivers, especially in Hue and Da Nang

From now until November 20, new floods may appear on rivers from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa.

During this period, water levels at:

Bo River, Huong River (Thua Thien - Hue), Vu Gia - Thu Bon River (Da Nang - Quang Nam), Tra Khuc and Ve Rivers (Quang Ngai) can all reach alert level 2 - alert level 3, some rivers exceed alert level 3.

The risk of flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas and residential areas from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa remains high.
