FPT Long Chau 'trades in old, replaces new' spray for asthma patients

From November 28,FPT Long Chau pharmacy chain will collect old and exchange for new asthma inhalers to encourage people to properly dispose of medical waste.

FPT Long Chau representative said that they will collect and exchange all types of asthma inhalers, without any requirements regarding physical condition or brand. People can exchange asthma inhalers at all 1,600 pharmacies of the unit nationwide.
Each asthma inhaler is supported with 5,000 VND, to help people buy new asthma inhalers, ensuring compliance with treatment. Old asthma inhalers will be stored separately and treated as medical waste.

The service was launched by FPT Long Chau in the context of many people in the country suffering from chronic respiratory diseases. Statistics in 2019 of the Vietnam Lung Association showed that nationwide, 4.2% of people over 40 years old had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and 4.1% had asthma.

Both diseases require long-term treatment with inhalers and control to avoid future attacks. Patients have to bear the burden of treatment costs, and asthma inhalers become medical waste that needs to be properly disposed of to protect the environment.

Through the new service, FPT Long Chau hopes to accompany and support patients with costs, contributing to reducing medical waste in the environment.

Ms. Nguyen Bach Diep, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of FPT Retail and General Director of FPT Long Chau, said that the unit's projects have the cooperation of many partners, wishing to wholeheartedly contribute to community health, encourage people to resonate and aim for positive values.

"The project "Collect old, exchange new asthma spray" will continue to be a clear demonstration in the continuous effort to bring more benefits to the community," said Ms. Diep.

The "Trade-in" program aims to encourage people to properly dispose of medical waste.

In July, FPT Long Chau pharmacy chain collected old and replaced used diabetes pens with new ones. FPT Long Chau representative said that through the projects, the unit not only provides genuine drugs at good prices, but also promotes the role of the enterprise in social and environmental responsibility, accompanying customers to create long-term value in encouraging the habit of collecting medical waste at the source. Through the projects that have been and are being implemented, FPT Long Chau is taking advantage of its strengths in the pharmaceutical retail industry to bring many positive changes to the people.
