On October 13, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat announced that it had extended the temporary suspension of Ms. Nguyen Thai Quynh Nga - Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School - for another 15 days, to continue to serve verification related to the boarding meals suspected of using "dirty food".
Previously, the Ward People's Committee decided to temporarily suspend Ms. Nga from work for 15 working days, starting from September 24. Now that the deadline has expired, the locality decided to extend it to ensure the inspection and clarification process is objective and complete.
As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , the boarding kitchen team for the 2024-2025 school year and some parents accused Trung Vuong Primary School of allowing suppliers to bring substandard food into the kitchen, affecting the meals of 720 students.
In reports sent to the authorities, the school mentioned several shipments that "showed unusual signs" such as boiled meat that changed color, shrimp with black heads, suspected frozen beef balls, and bones that smelled.
The school affirmed that the suspected food batch had been returned or replaced and samples were kept according to regulations, while the whistleblower claimed that some batches had been cooked for students.
In the ward, an interdisciplinary inspection team has been established to conduct 30-day inspections starting September 22 of all boarding kitchens and food safety work at educational institutions.
The inspection contents include supplier records, contracts, food origins, three-step inspection process, sample storage, kitchen conditions, personnel, and extra-budgetary revenues and expenditures related to boarding.
Regarding school activities, Trung Vuong Primary School has temporarily suspended boarding meals from September 22 because suppliers have requested to stop delivering food.
Regarding this incident, on the evening of September 19, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Tuan directed to resolve the incident completely, requesting the Department of Health and the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province to coordinate with the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat to inspect, verify, and at the same time rectify the entire province's work of organizing school meals.
At the online conference on September 23, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi criticized the slow handling, asking the police, health and local authorities to clarify the quality of meals, food quality and the responsibility of the head.
