On October 16, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan had a meeting and worked with Professor Tran Thanh Van - Chairman of the Vietnam Science Association, Director of the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), to discuss the progress of implementing the center's scientific development programs.
Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee received and worked with Professor Tran Thanh Van.
At the meeting, Professor Tran Thanh Van presented a series of international scientific cooperation projects, notably the proposal to build the first international standard Marine Environment and Oceanography Monitoring Station in Vietnam, located in the Quy Nhon - Gia Lai sea area and the BIOMASS satellite signal receiving station to serve biosphere research from space.
These projects were researched and agreed upon by a group of French and Vietnamese scientists to develop project content and propose it to the provincial leaders, after 2 working days (October 13-14) at the ICISE Center. They aim to serve research on climate, resources and carbon emissions – issues of global significance.
Professor Tran Thanh Van also reported on the progress of establishing four key physics research groups at the IFIRSE Institute under ICISE, including: Neutrino Physics, Quantum Physics, Biophysics and Astrophysics - Cosmology. These are basic science fields in which Vietnam currently lacks human resources, research facilities and long-term development orientation.
Speaking at the working session, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan emphasized that Gia Lai always attaches importance to and encourages the development of science and technology as one of the important driving forces to promote sustainable socio-economic growth.
At the same time, he expressed his agreement and high support for the proposals of Professor Tran Thanh Van. He emphasized that he would order the ICISE Center to build a project for a basic science research laboratory, focusing initially on two directions: Neutrino Physics and Quantum Physics.
“These are two fundamental fields of modern science, which can open up new research directions, creating the foundation for high-tech applications in the future,” the Chairman of Gia Lai province emphasized.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan also said that Gia Lai will create favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms and resources, encourage ICISE research groups to develop locally, and at the same time attract young Vietnamese scientists abroad and international experts for research cooperation.
The goal is not only to develop basic science, but also to gradually build Gia Lai into a regional scientific address, a place that gathers the intelligence and creativity of domestic and foreign scientists.
Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee awarded the land use right certificate and updated new information to ICISE Center.
Along with supporting research projects, Gia Lai province also agreed with ICISE's proposal to build a Marine Environment and Oceanography Monitoring Station and a BIOMASS Satellite Signal Receiving Station - two projects considered symbols of Vietnam - France scientific cooperation in the era of spatial data. These projects are expected to start the first phase in Gia Lai and expand to the Central Coast and Central Highlands provinces in the future.
On the occasion of the working session, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan awarded the Certificate of Land Use Rights (updated information) to ICISE Center for an area of 16.7 hectares of land exempted from rent by the Government, serving non-profit scientific and educational activities.
