TPO - Poverty reduction work in Gia Lai province in recent years has had many positive changes thanks to the close attention of authorities at all levels, the synchronous participation of sectors and organizations, and the consensus of the people.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province, in recent years, poverty reduction work in the province has always received great attention from the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province.

The province has issued many mechanisms and policies related to poverty reduction work suitable to the local situation and conditions, along with the active participation of all levels, sectors, organizations and the masses.

In addition, the province strongly responded to the " Emulation Movement for the Poor, Leaving No One Behind " for the period 2021-2025, and the " Emulation Movement to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses Nationwide " and widely launched emulation movements from the province to the grassroots, with diverse content, rich and practical forms, suitable to the actual conditions of each agency, unit and locality, creating a strong change in awareness, action and sense of responsibility of all classes for poverty reduction work.

The province's poverty reduction work in recent times has achieved positive results, people's lives have been increasingly improved, contributing to helping the poor and ethnic minorities have access to education , health, cultural services... many poor households have risen out of poverty.

In the 2021-2025 period, the locality mobilized non-state budget resources to support poverty reduction and social security work, with a total value of cash and in-kind support of VND 1,312 billion.

By the end of 2024, the entire Gia Lai province's poverty rate will be 3.38% with 28,369 poor households, down 2.08% compared to 2023 (16,988 poor households escaping poverty); the near-poor household rate will be 5.27% with 44,230 near-poor households, down 0.64% compared to 2023 (4,845 near-poor households escaping poverty).

It is expected that in 2025, the poverty rate will be 2.24% with 18,965 poor households, an expected decrease of 1.14% compared to 2024 (9,404 poor households will escape poverty).

Many outstanding individuals have risen out of poverty.

Also according to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province, all levels, sectors and localities have had many good practices and effective models to help many poor and near-poor households know how to do business, escape poverty and help the commune complete the new rural area.

Mr. Dinh Van Cho's household (village 2, An Hoa commune, Gia Lai province) is a poor household in the commune. In 2021, with the support of the 3 black pigs project, the family boldly borrowed capital for production and business from the Provincial Social Policy Bank, expanded livestock farming, and brewed wine. Up to now, the family has stabilized its income and escaped poverty. In addition, Mr. Cho's household has also expanded its business and sold local products.

Mr. Le Van Ngon's household (Van An village, Phu My Bac commune) is a poor household, with income mainly from growing rice on an area of ​​7 sao and raising a few pigs and cows.

In 2021, with the support of a loan from the Farmers' Support Fund, he borrowed more than 300 million VND to invest in barns and raise 15 breeding cows. Up to now, Mr. Ngon's family's life has been quite well-off, after deducting expenses, the annual profit is from 75 to 90 million VND. Mr. Ngon's family also participates in supporting a number of poor and disadvantaged households in the locality to participate in production development and escape poverty. His family also actively participates in the new rural construction movement, donates land to build roads, contributes to the Gratitude Fund, and the Farmers' Support Fund in the locality.

Mr. Nguyen Canh Duy (Tang Loi village, Canh Vinh commune) is the owner of a local production and business establishment, with herbal tea products (dung tea, ginseng tea). Mr. Duy's establishment has built a project to cooperate with local households to organize planting and purchase post-harvest products for farmers, creating a source of local raw materials for the establishment while also creating jobs for households, providing stable income, helping households escape poverty sustainably.
