A homestay on the outskirts of Hanoi is fully booked with campers and vacationers.

During the April 30th - May 1st holiday, instead of spending tens of millions of dong on plane tickets to Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Nang , etc., many families chose to vacation near Hanoi to save costs. Therefore, most homestays on the outskirts of the city were fully booked as early as the beginning of March.

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Mai (Hai Ba Trung district) said that because she decided to plan her trip late, she spent a lot of time searching for a resort in the outskirts of Hanoi. She called dozens of places to inquire about booking rooms, but homestays in Soc Son, Ba Vi, etc., all had no rooms available for the April 30th - May 1st holiday.

"Because plane tickets for long-distance travel were too expensive, my family decided to vacation at a homestay near Hanoi. But because we booked at the last minute, our plans fell apart. Even when we switched to Moc Chau, I couldn't find a room. Most resorts and homestays announced that they only had rooms available from May 2nd," Ms. Mai recounted.

Confirming the high demand for rooms during the April 30th - May 1st holiday, Ms. Tran Anh Tuyet, manager of a resort in Dong Do (Soc Son district, Hanoi), shared that all the villas there were fully booked during the April 30th - May 1st holiday, with only one villa remaining available on May 2nd.

Accordingly, guests who booked their villas here since the beginning of March 2024 are currently renting them for weekdays at around 6 million VND per day, including all amenities such as spa, cafe, swimming pool, portable speaker, etc.

"If you rent on weekends, the price will be higher, ranging from 8 to 9 million VND per day. The villas for rent usually accommodate 10-12 guests. During the April 30th - May 1st holiday, many tourists from Hanoi, Central Vietnam (such as Nghe An, Ha Tinh...), and the northern mountainous regions (such as Cao Bang, Ha Giang) also come here to book rooms," Ms. Tuyet informed.

According to Ms. Tuyet, homestays here are rented year-round, and during major holidays like April 30th - May 1st, the number of tourists and guests staying there usually increases 4-5 times. Service prices may increase slightly during these days compared to normal days, but there are still many inquiries about booking rooms.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, manager of a resort in Ba Vi (Hanoi), said that because this year's April 30th and May 1st holiday is longer, guests booked rooms very early, with some registering as early as March to secure their spots. Currently, all rooms are fully booked until May 2nd.

According to Mr. Thanh, the rental prices for rooms during the April 30th holiday this year are only equivalent to weekend prices, an increase of 10-20% compared to weekdays.

According to Mr. Thanh, it's now too late to find a suitable room in homestays, villas, or resorts on the outskirts of Hanoi. Some available rooms are simply not attractive.

“Even many resorts in Hoa Binh, priced at 6-7 million VND per night, were fully booked for the 5-day holiday. Similarly, large villas costing 10-12 million VND per night were also occupied. For the past 3-4 years, many tourists have been traveling to the outskirts of Hanoi for vacation, so they are more experienced and usually book rooms 2-3 months in advance of the holiday to have more options,” Thanh added.

Similarly, Mr. Tran Tien Hung, manager of a resort in Dong Anh, said that all 20 bungalows at his resort were booked months in advance. “The number of bookings was so high that we were fully booked from the beginning of April. Most of the bookings were made between the beginning and middle of March,” he said.

Regarding room rates during the holiday period, Mr. Hung stated that they increase by approximately 20% compared to weekend prices. While guests typically book bungalows for around 1.5 million VND per room per night on weekdays, the price during holidays is over 1.9 million VND per room per night.

Explaining the high demand for rooms at many homestays on the outskirts of Hanoi during this year's holiday season, Mr. Hung predicted that it might be due to the high cost of airfare this year, leading many families to choose not to travel far but instead seek out resorts and homestays on the outskirts of the city with spacious and luxurious surroundings.

"Many people currently prefer experiencing relaxing getaways rather than investing in expensive long-distance trips. Therefore, well-invested homestays with diverse, romantic designs, close to nature, and environmentally friendly are a reasonable choice. Besides luxurious rooms, resorts and homestays also attract guests with private spaces for strolling, cycling, sightseeing, swimming pools, fishing ponds, team building activities, etc.," Mr. Hung analyzed.
