Today's gasoline prices on the world market
Oil prices on the world market are trending upwards today, December 10th, after US officials confirmed the seizure of an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela. This move has increased concerns about short-term crude oil supply.
At the close of trading, Brent crude oil prices rose 0.4% to $62.21 per barrel, and US WTI crude oil prices increased 0.4% to $58.46 per barrel.
On the morning of December 11th, the market saw mixed movements. At 6:50 AM (Vietnam time), Brent crude oil prices continued to rise by 0.94% to $62.52 per barrel. Meanwhile, US WTI crude oil prices fell by 0.27% to $58.8.

The seizure of an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela, although the name of the vessel and its exact location have not been released, immediately triggered a strong reaction in oil prices today. Oil analyst Ed Hayden-Briffett of Onyx Capital believes that oil prices could react even more strongly if this incident triggers a series of similar actions in the future.
Rory Johnston, founder of the Commodity Context newsletter, said the seizure of the oil tanker further increased concerns about immediate supply. The market was already worried about oil flows from Venezuela, Iran, and Russia. On the same day, a Ukrainian official also stated that the country had attacked and neutralized an oil tanker linked to the trade of Russian oil.
Prior to news of the oil tanker seizure, gasoline prices had already fallen nearly 1% in today's session, after US government data showed crude oil inventories for the week ending December 5th fell by 1.8 million barrels, lower than the 2.3 million barrel decrease that analysts had averaged.
In other news, the US Federal Reserve (Fed) lowered interest rates by another 0.25 percentage points, as expected by the market. This move is expected to stimulate economic growth and thereby boost oil demand, contributing to supporting gasoline prices today and in the future.
Fed Chairman Jerome Powell declined to confirm whether further interest rate easing would occur in the near future, but he said the current policy has been adjusted to respond to upcoming economic uncertainties.
