On the morning of September 15th, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Law Newspaper, in collaboration with Hung Viet Trading and Tourism Company Limited and the People's Committee of Tram Tau District ( Yen Bai ), held a press conference to introduce the first "Footsteps on the Clouds" mountain climbing competition to conquer Ta Chi Nhu peak in 2023.

The competition took place from September 29th to October 1st at Ta Chi Nhu peak, Xa Ho commune, Tram Tau district, Yen Bai province, with 100 participating athletes. The athletes were journalists and reporters working for news agencies and media outlets from the central government and localities nationwide, whose applications were vetted and approved by the organizing committee. Notably, the organizing committee provided financial support for travel and accommodation expenses during the competition.

Participating in the "Footsteps on the Clouds" mountain climbing competition, athletes will have to overcome a route of approximately 10km of hilly terrain. The starting point is at the foot of the mountain in Sang Pao village, Xa Ho commune, and the finish line is Ta Chi Nhu peak at an altitude of 2,979m above sea level.

The highlight of the mountain climbing route is that athletes will pass through majestic natural landscapes at different altitudes, from primeval forests, through low-lying forests, grasslands, to fields of purple chi pâu flowers...

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Tran Ngoc Ha, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Law Newspaper and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition, said, "Why are there only 100 athletes participating in the competition? We would love to have more, but the overnight accommodation on the summit of Ta Chi Nhu mountain can only accommodate no more than 200 people."

In future tournaments at different mountain peaks and locations, we will expand the scale to attract more reporters and journalists. To date, the number of registrations has exceeded expectations, and the organizing committee will conduct a screening process to ensure compliance with regulations.”

According to the organizers of the first "Footsteps on the Clouds" Ta Chi Nhu peak climbing competition in 2023, ensuring the safety of the athletes is the top priority. Therefore, the organizers will purchase insurance for all athletes.

In addition, the 10km route is equipped with 5 medical stations, safety signs, etc. The race has 100 participating athletes, but approximately 70 people are involved in providing services and ensuring safety. Due to the unreliable phone signal on the summit of Ta Chi Nhu mountain, members of the organizing committee will communicate using walkie-talkies to ensure uninterrupted communication.
